Seems like a dumb move by Baltimore. I've always felt that Mazzone was one of the best if not THE best pitching coach in baseball. The Astros need to make an attempt to hire this guy to work with our young pitchers. What has Dewey Robinson done to prove he is a major league caliber pitching coach?

What has Leo Mazzone done when not with some of the greatest pitchers of the last 25 years and Bobby Cox? Not real hard to be a pitching coach with Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz.
Answer= NOTHING

wow, incredible. What about Bedard and Guthrie. There are SOME PEOPLE that dish everything that smells Cards or Braves. Remember Avery? / Remember Jorge Sosa, only good one year for the Braves? Remember Russ Ortiz, only good when he was with Brave? ??

I agree with JB, however, in the astros current situation, i think they ought to try and sign him to pitch and not coach

Whats your point Vega? I have made it perdectly clear that I think managers and coaches are all overrated. This has nothing to do with the Cards or Braves. Mazzone by the way is with the O's not the Braves or Cards.
What is this "dish" thing you keep talking about? Are you trying to say "dis" as in " dis-respect"? It isnt "dish" and you need to quit trying to sound cool or ghetto.
Russ Ortiz ....had pretty good seasons as a Giant before he was with the Braves. You are wrong about him.
Jorge Sosa... What about him? 1 year wonder.
Steve Avery .... Considering he spent most of his career with the Braves and only had a couple of good seasons I also fail to see your point here.
The talent is either there or it isnt. I am sure Mazzone is a good guy and a good baseball Coach, but this guys cant make chicken soup out of chickensh*t. They all look like wizards when they have talented teams.

i was the first one to say 'how difficult could it have been' to win with those pitchers? Then again he was there when glavine and smoltz were rookies? Its just like hickey from a few years back...he straight up said' im here for these guys to vent on' whats he going to teach andy, roger or roy...'now now roger you really need to' ..... few of these coachs were good enough themselves ,to where they could really lay serious criticism on their players,,mattingly would be about the only one(is he their hitting coach though?) The point is these guys are their to help the younger players or the older ones who arent worth a sh*t(lane and ensberg type)
