I hope you will all take the time to read this article and yes it's from the New York Times so you left wing liberals can't scream that it came from a right wing rag.
Plus, I hope all of you have been e-mailing your Texas Senators and supporting them on the flak they have been receiving from the senate dems such as Ted Kennedy and even from moderates such as John McCain who tried to cram this amnesty immigration bill down our throats.
Our Texas Senator John Cornyn has especially been attacked for his opposition to an immigration bill that rewards criminals who donot respect the rule of law in our country. Especially from John McCain whom Senator Cornyn took to task on the Senate floor in front of the rest of the senate. Mr. McCain proceeded to blast our Senator with a tirade of F-U's but Cornyn stood his ground.
I have e-mailed our Senators weekly, especially Senator Cornyn expressing our support for what he has been doing and that we stand behind him for the verbal attacks he has received from McCain and others in the Senate who tried to cram this amnesty program for criminals down our throats.
There wasn't even a provision in this immigration bill for weeding out violent criminals, rapists and child molesters until our Senator Cornyn forced the Senate to include a provision for making sure our local law enforcement agencies are contacted when one of these violent illegal immigrants attempt to enter our country!

Contact your Texas Senators and congratulate them for protecting the rights and citizens of the state of Texas. You need to let them know that we support their efforts because it is because of them and others like them that this immigration bill in the senate was finally sent where it belonged...in the garbage can.
Grass Roots Roared and Immigration Plan Collapsed
New York Times
June 10, 2007
"Her strong feelings about the immigration issue came gradually, she said. A nephew who works as a house painter had trouble finding high-paying work because of competition from illegal immigrants. Some Mexican teenagers hassled her on the street, seeming to mock her because she walks with a cane. She spotted immigrants shopping with food stamps at the grocery store.
Mrs. Thibodeaux said she favored orderly legal immigration, but did not think illegal immigrants should benefit from American generosity.
“I have a very hard time with illegal,” she said. She proposes that all illegal immigrants be given a 90-day period to leave voluntarily. After that, immigration agents, local police and the National Guard, if necessary, should be mobilized to deport them, she said."
