I'm still trying to figure out why you said he was doing very well until the finger injury. Guys pitching very well don't allow 8 or more earned runs in 4 out of 6 starts.
Actually he was NOT voted as best pitcher in 2005, at least not by Baseball America. They didn't even have him in the top 10 overall. The best pitcher that year was Zeke, followed by Patton, Albers, Buchholz, and Nieve.
So while it might be a fact that he was #1 in 2006 (NOT 2005 as you claim), that doesn't mean it was a fact that he was our best prospect. That was just an opinion.

well, i don't know but one thing is for sure, i would not give jennings a long term contract AFTER just having elbow troubles. That was a stupid trade that will hunt this organization for many years. I think that Hirsh has allowed less hits per innings, this guy is a very good pitcher, at least a number 3 starter, could become a number 2. Buch has great stuff, could become a good number 4 and with better location on fastball, a number 3. You give those 2 pitchers for a good number 3 starter, average number 2 starter? And then you give a regular cfer? ? You give that talent for a real good pitcher. And a pitcher with a 1 year deal? ?

I wouldn't either right now, but we'll have to see what happens the rest of the year. He's doing better so far than he did last year. He didn't show much last year. Why is it that you're sure that Buchholz will overcome his shoulder injuries and be real good but you're not going to give Jennings the chance to get past his elbow?

Because Jennings is an Astro.
Chandler.. dont you know that NO Astro player can be as good as Pujols or Jeter or Arod. That no pitcher, even Oswalt can be great only very good?
Its Houston, NOT NY or LA or hell, any other team.
Didnt you know that?

Because right now Buch is under contract and organization has a chance to WAIT, can we say the same thing about Jennings? ?

Astrobbudy, is more than that, IS CONTRACTS. You CAN'T spend that kind of money for a guy that is injured. Buch is going to be under contract with Colorado for the next 3 or 4 years, can you see the difference? Is not where they are playing, is contracts, taht is the GM job.

if he is healthy and pitches good he will be traded for a couple of good prospects.

JB, you are so funny. You remember the most obscure Astros from the past.
Chandler.. I am very well aware of that. It wasnt my point. Berkman could end the season with identical stats as either of those guys and it still wouldnt be enough. Thats my point.

It hasn't been all that long since Barker was on the team. Would you have felt better if I had mentioned Charlie Hayes?

Actually, Charlie Hayes and Glen Barker played their last games in MLB with the Astros in the same year, 2001.
Thats quite a while ago.
Its jst funny how you pull out the names of Astros busts of the past. Names that most people wouldnt even remember ever played for the team. Its funny.
