Oh ya...They signed torre...something tells me he got concessions from mgmt and their spending $$$....that would be a real coup as i undertand that mccourt is the cheapest man in pro sports

Look for the Dodgers to make a run at ARod and maybe some other Yankees whose future is undecided.

that would be good..they need a big bat out there..They have some good hitting but nobody with the power arod brings...From what i understand is that the GM has already admitted Torre will be grooming an unnamed coach to replace him in 3 years..As luck would have it Don mattingly's kid is in the dodgers system...wonder who Joe will be grooming?

Personally, I hate the damn Dodgers and wish Torre had gone elsewhere because I like Torre. At least, maybe we won't be subjected to crap like fatass Tommy LaSorda and his gay "Dodger Blue" sh*t.

Agreed..i liken it to supporting ..then again its all about supporting ones team...Kind of like the astros letting Nolan Ryan and Biggio hang around after they had become worthless...

When was Nolan Ryan 'worthless' with the Astros?

Hembo, there you go again showing your ignorance. After Ryan left Houston, he pitched two more no-hitters, became the all-time strikeout king, and won his 300th game. I can't believe you made a statement that was that asinine.

Ryan was never worthless until his elbow gimped up while he was with Texas. The Rangers were pretty worthless though. ;D

sticking with the topic here....(hopefully thats allowed)....
The dodgers are looking for *an up grade in center field *a power hitting 3rd baseman *Starting pitcher
Damned if that doesnt sound familiar...If the Dodgers are gonna get back to the top they have to spend big bucks, and by signing torre, they may be showing they are willing to do that....Whether he wants to or not, McLane will have a tough time outbidding them..... maybe it just sucks to be us....

It should be interesting watching Torre manage an NL team. One without a 200m payrol to boot. A-Rod won't make them winners if he goes there. See past stops, all different situations / players but with the same results. I too like Torre but he just doesn't fit there and he certaintly has never one anywhere but NY.

Contrary to popular belief, the Dodgers are not loaded with cash. They have spent too much on free agents the past few years and do not have near the income from TV and radio that everyone assumes they do. The LA market is the 2nd largest in the country but there are too many competing interests in SoCal for the revenue to be where it should. Plus the fact that most in LA are the biggest fair weather fans out there. They are more interested in the Lakers and Clippers and who is courtside! If Jack Nicholson isn't at the game, it isn't important.

well the team itself is horrible and not getting better...not only that, the owner is the cheapest guy in pro sports...On that note, they have a fantastic minor league system but it appears to be thin nowadays....Theres no telling .....

All of the pro leagues would be a lot better if we could just convince Congress to kick Kalifornia out of the U.S. and eliminate the teams there and absorb the players into the remaining teams! ;D
