Cubs' Piniella suspended indefinitely, fined June 3, 2007
CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella was suspended indefinitely and fined an undisclosed amount by Major League Baseball on Sunday for his latest dirt-kicking tirade against an umpire.
Piniella was ejected in the eighth inning of Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves. After Angel Pagan was thrown out trying to steal third, Piniella stormed out of the dugout and kicked dirt as he argued and tossed his cap, leading to his ouster by third-base umpire Mark Wegner. MLB also said that Piniella made contact with Wegner during the outburst.
Piniella will begin serving his suspension Sunday. The length of Piniella's suspension will be determined Monday after a meeting with John McHale Jr., the MLB executive vice president for administration.
The Cubs have lost six straight entering Sunday's series finale against the Braves.
What an absolute circus. Pinella is an idiot. It wasnt even a close play.

Earl Weaver was a great manager and they do that to spark a team, I know, YOU ARE NOT USED TO IT because you don't have THAT kind of manager.
I don't mind managers like that, Cox, Piniella, Guillen, those are guys that manage with passion, i have no problem with that, especially if they know to manage, and those 3 know how to manage.

Cox is a drama queen but a good manager.
Pinella and Guillen are just idiots, especially Guillen. Give them a good team and they win.

I supported him the first year. Second year i saw some mistakes. Third year he was awful. This year is beyond awful. Now, you see the difference between you and me? When he does good, i say it, now he is terrible, I WILL ALSO SAY IT. Hembo, i agree, i believe Pinella is a great manager. He has had success in Seattle, Cincy and with Tampa they improved.

Astrobuddy, i call Garner any names i wish on the forum, if you don't like it then that is your problem.
If you have TO DEFEND a manager and/or a player not because he is doing good or bad but because ANY OF US IS CALLING NAMES on that player/manager, then that is silly and shows you only want to START ARGUMENTS.
And like i've mentioned before about you, instead of arguing about TOPICS you like to argue about OTHER STUFF, and that for me is UNCALLED in this site.

And Pinella, with Tampa.
First year won 63, after team won 55 games year before. Then improved to 70. Then 67 wins.
He leaves and team go down again to 61 victories.
2 years before Pinella the team lost over 100 games. The year after he left the team lost over 100 games.
The 3 years he was there the team NEVER lost 100 games.
Sorry but i have to say it, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN OF THE JURY, I rest my case.
Pinella won a WS and he did NOT have the best team that year.

LOL.. weak case Vega. They were an expansion franchise. They were bound to get a little better.
But the basically stayed the same.

Vega... Pinella's teams were losing mid 90's every year. It isnt like they went from winning 90 to losing 100. A slight change one way or another.
Maybe Pinella is 5 games better than Joe Madden?
