How many of you guys or gals collected or still collect baseball cards? I quit buying them in the early 90's but I have a ton of them from the 70's, 80's, and 90's.

alas...I am one of those cliche's whose Mom threw out all the baseball cards...all mine were from the 50's and 60's...I never had mickey mantle's rookie card, but I did have Clemente's and I had one of a young Hank AAron and Willey Mays...problem was, I played with all mine, and none were pristine...who knew?...it makes the loss easier to think about

Yes this is a true story....I started in 1981...i collected garveys and bretts, brother collected rod carew and the old man collected nolan ryan...The old man bought 1968-1981(minus about 4 he already had) for 150.00..garveys and bretts cards ran about the same give or take..carew about the same...anyways, those were the days were there wasnt 6 or 7 different layers of sets/subsets etc...
one christmas my dads buddy brought over a huge moving box of old cards... we got about 30 mantles, 20 koufaxs, aarons mays, ted williams etc...about 200 cards for 90.00
i sold my collection in about 1985 and drank most of it in my high school glory days...my brother sold his about the same time and bought a used car(which ended up getting stolen on long point) and my dad kept his..he still has his
i started back up in the late 1990's just because i was bored and happened into a card shop...im not a steady collector but i will occasionally buy something online...its cool if you can afford it..packs now go between 5.00 and 500.00...its cool getting game used stuff...i guess the best card i pulled is a topps chrome refractor arod which is ser 1/1 or the clemente williams game used bats ...when i got the arod the other dude in the store bought some brand and got an wagner/clemente/and some other pirate guys.. quad auto...i offered to trade

I have boxes of Minor League baseball cards, signed baseball by the Houston Buffs and Colt .45. I also have Jeff Bagwells rookie card. I need to go through them and see if any of them are worth anything.
Also just found out that my Great Granfather was the catcher for Houston Buffs. I have been looking for the pics that was posted in the Houston Chron but have not been able to find anything on it.

A former poster on our previous site would die to get his hands on some signed Houston Buff cards.

I'm not sure what they are worth. The guy who used to post at the other site is afilliated with the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame. www.tbhof.org/about/about.htm
