There is no reason to offer arbitration to none ranked players anymore. There is no compensation and no deadline to sign.
The Astros didnt need to offer Lamb free money. Even if they offer it he can still sign with another team. They can negotiate freely with him and if they both want each other they will get a deal done. Jennings the same thing.

i'd like them to keep both...lord knows fat boy berkman will need the break and sooner or later everett will hit himself right out of the lineup...new GM and new manager..everett may be on borrowed time...for a team that cant hit their way out of a paper bag, everett is taking up space..he doesnt save that many runs as opposed to what he doesnt drive in

then again...looking at whats down at round rock, everett doesnt look so bad...wtf? They have 1 guy who is 27 and the other 2 are 30+ years old....The minor league scouts need to really get their sh*t together...

The entire scouting department is new.
I agree with you, Berkman needs to get his act together for the whole season, not just a part of the season.
If the rest of the lineup does its job, you dont worry about Everett. His above average defense does save more runs than he would drive in.

If pence isnt a one year wonder and if berkman shows up the first half of the season, this team will have just as good of a lineup as most if not better...pitching is going to be the wild card here..their season will be made or lost by the relief pitchers..i think their starters will keep them in games for the most part(outside wandy)
