The Cubs non-tendered Prior. What would be wrong with signing him to a minor league deal and see what happens? We have done worse.

He's a free agent and I'm guessing someone is willing to sign him to a major league deal. I'm ok with that as long as the money doesn't get too crazy.

I would like to make the move, so long as there isn't a bidding war for him. I would hate to give him a multi-year deal.

I'd be willing to take a risk on Matt Clement as well.

I'd try to sign both of them. They can't be any worse than Woody and Jennings, which I hope we do NOT sign.

You will find no argument here. The Astros just need to be cautious and make sure they are NOT getting another Jennings or Williams.

Rumor going around is that Pryor is looking to the west coast as his preferred destination.
Although I would take a shot at him without getting into a bidding war.
Clement would be a nice option as well. I am not very high on Jennings but if he is healed and signs a low budget incentive-laden contract, I would look at that as well. AT this point I would take anyone besides Woody unless he is your 5th starter.

If we really want to improve the starting staff, Woody won't even be considered for the rotation. We don't want him leading the league in homers allowed two years in a row.

the upside is too great to pass up on both...incentive based contract though...maybe a future relief pitcher?

Prior will not help this year, we need to re sign Jennings.
1. Oswalt 2. Jennings 3. Wandy 4. Backe 5. Woody
With Gutierrez and Paolino fighting for a spot in rotation.
If Wandy pitches the same way he did last year, and Woody and Jennings do what they are able to do, this team wins division IF QUALLS is able to save games.
Dotel may be signed.

I think we've already seen what Jennings can do for us. Do not bring this bum back. He's already cost us three players. Why the hell would we want his useless ass on our team?

Jennings was NOT a bad pitcher when he was healthy. You can throw out his 2007 season - it was an aberration. We have yet to see what he can do for Houston.
When healthy and throwing hard, Jennings has been a good pitcher and would be worth taking a risk on at the right price. There ain't a lot out there right now.

Jason Jennings is who we thought he was! He was sh*t last year! Now, *hits microphone* if you want to crown him, then crown his ass!

I honestly don't think the Astros have any interest in bringing Jennings back. I'm not sure he isn't the best, if not one of the best, free agent options left.
I doubt we have much of a chance of picking up a decent pitcher via trade, so if I'm the Astros I try to sign at least two of the high risk/high reward guys and hope for the best.
