Simple question.
Ed Wade's been a busy man lately. And he's likely to have another big announcement soon.
I'm guessing Silva for some reason.

I'd like to get Livan Hernandez and Mark Prior. I don't know much about Silva and the LAST thing I want to see is that damn Jason Jennings back in an Astros uniform. This bum canT throw quality BP.

I'd sign Matt Clement and possibly Mark Prior

Livan Hernandez? Why would he be a better choice than a (hopefully) healthy Jason Jennings?

So far, we have a tie between Jennings and RyanED. Go figure lol.
Chandler, I'll take Livan over Jennings. He always gives you 200+ innings and has postseason experience.
WTP, Clement is a good idea. I forgot all about him. He and Silva would be awesome.

Yeah, he'll give you 200 innings..200 innings of crappiness.
Last year he pitched 204 1/3 innings, allowed 247 hits and 79 walks, while striking out only 90 for an ERA of 4.93. Yuck.

Those figures put up by Livan Hernandez are still better than the crap we got from Jennings and Woody Williams. Hernandez is better than either of those guys. Prior is the main guy I would target. If he is healthy, he could be the difference maker in our rotation.

Jennings was hurt last year. ALL of last year. What you saw from him last year is NOT his normal performance. For some reason you refuse to accept that last year's performance was due to injury.

The Astros regularly hit Jennings hard when he was with the Rockies. Was he injured then, too? I haven't heard anything about how his recuperation is going. Will he even be able to pitch next season? Chandler, I've just never been impressed with Jennings at any time. Purpura gave away three players to get him.

Prior would certainly be worth a minor league contract...I seriously doubt he will pass a physical now but maybe...guys like he and lidge will be given chances for a few more years because the potential is certainly there..
i didnt think guys like williams was ever more than a 4th or 5th starter..he had a few good years but nothing special(read that as i would rather get mike scott out of retirement)

The Astros regularly hit Jennings hard when he was with the Rockies. Regularly? He only faced them six times in his career. He didn't do too badly this game: May 6, 2006Either way, judging him based on what you saw the very few times he pitched against us is a bit shortsighted. Overall he was a good pitcher the last couple years in Colorado, and there's no reason not to consider an incentive-laden low base deal now
