"Valverde had a good year last year, but I am not going to lie," Berkman said. "I am definitely concerned about his antics. He's one of the more demonstrative pitchers in the league, and I know that from playing against him that rubs guys the wrong way. "It reflects poorly on the team and doesn't do anything but give the opposing team fuel for the next time he goes out. I hope those issues are addressed. This team might take a while from a chemistry standpoint to get together. "I may not be right about that. We may get in there and everybody clicks, but I do know we had great chemistry in the clubhouse before, and that's a question mark going into the season." Look moron, for the past 2 years that chemistry is NOT helping the team one sh*t. Why don't you worry more about winning and saying you are HAPPY with the NEW TALENT you are getting and that you, as a veteran of the team will help this team to get chemistry and win games? Are you giving us excuses for losing already? // What a f**king leader we have in Berkman, INCREDIBLE.

It is amazing that he is more interested in "chemistry" than he is about winning. I could care less about a club's chemistry when they sucked as bad as the 'Stros did last year.
Berkman, lay off the Little Debbies and get your ass in the gym and quit b*tching like a 9 year old girl.

As much as I like the guy, he sure whines an awful lot.
I agree that he needs to get over the trading of Burke and get his but in gear. This team may still have some holes but we are a much better team than we were last year. He needs to bring his best season.

I read what this idiot had to say in the Chronicle and had the same reaction as you guys. He's a moron and a crybaby. I have a solution to Berkmans' problem.....trade his candy ass to Arizona so he can be reunited with his little playmate, Chris Burke. That's probably why he's whining anyway. Seriously, the way Berkman played the first half of last season is the primary reason the Astros fell out of the race so early.....that along with the piss-poor pitching which only promises to be worse in 2008 unless some more moves are made. If Berkman is unhappy in Houston, let him waive his no-trade clause so we can ship his lazy ass somewhere for a qualiyt starting pitcher or two. In short, screw Berkman. I'm not interested in what this crybaby has to say.

I don't think chemistry will be an issue in the clubhouse, from what I hear Tejada knows a great chemist.

Berkman needs to call Bagwell and get some lessons on keeping it in the clubhouse. Talking trash in the papers is for losers. Keep it in house man, show some class.

I agree, mike. I agree with his assessment of demonstrative players like Valverde and Lima, but the dirty laundry doesn't need to be aired out.

I don't think chemistry will be an issue in the clubhouse, from what I hear Tejada knows a great chemist. LOL! Excellent post! As for the comments about his leadership skills, it is obvious, at least to me that this latest string of quotes has put an exclamation point on something that I have believed for the last three seasons... that Berkman has never (and WILL never) have the desire, nor the ability to be the clubhouse leader of a baseball team. Say what you want about Biggio and to a lesser extent Bagwell, but at the very least they provided good examples of leadership...including the fact that they didn't air a bunch of dirty laundry to the press.

Pence is also upset. If you look at his myspace page, he shows his current state as "enraged". Poor babies.

A. Do you know that it's really *his* page? Anyone could make a page claiming to be him. B. Is that what he's enraged about?

You know, if you want to improve chemistry Lance, probably better to NOT call out your teammates in the media.

The type of "chemistry" ths team had needed to be changed. All of that "root for the good guys" crap sounds like what the members of a gay boys choir would have for a slogan. All of that hugging and kissing going on in the dugout last season involving Berkman, Burke, and Scott was a little too faggy to suit me. Now two members of that threesome are gone and the remaining member is whining. We could use someone like Valverde who isn't afraid to show some emotion. We need a guy like Tejada.......juice or not....to raise a little hell in the clubhouse if necessary. We had too many laid back types like Berkman. Anyone who wants Berkman to be the team leader doesn't mind losing because this candy ass is too soft to be a leader. He needs to spend the off-season learning how to run the bases instead of running his mouth in the media. Berkman needs to shut his mouth and get with the program or waive his no-trade clause and get the hell out of town.

Woody and Backe said Berkman is wrong, FINALLY we have some leaders on this team.
I like the new STRUCTURE of the team, i did not like it in the past 2 years.
FINALLY WE HAVE A GM, and we some luck and another starter (and Clemens later on) this team can win the division.

NO. This team does not need Clemens. In fact, if I were Draytie, that personal services contract would be in the fireplace right about now. Clemens is a jerk off that just needs to go away, far far away. His ass could probably feed a family of cannibals in the Congo for at least a week. ;D

Vega, we don't need Clemens back.....Now or ever!! I agree with Texiban.....Draytie should tell Clemens to wiipe his ass with the personal services contract. We don't need this a$$h*le to be associated with this team in any way. In fact, I'd let his kid go, too. He's probably on the juice himself.
