This is a great pick up by Wade......a good addition to our bench.

This is a great pick up by Wade......a good addition to our bench. Agreed, a win-win no doubt. All I ever remember about Erstad is going all out with the Angels, which has been to his detriment over the years but a balls out guy which I personally like.

Great move. The 5 OFers are, Lee, Bourn, Pence, Erstad and Cruz.

He still needs to sign a couple of starting pitchers if we are to compete.

I believe we need 1 starter and 1 left handed reliever.
Jennings and Affeldt.

I heard that Jennings wants a two or three year deal and I doubt the Astros will give him over a one-year deal with an option for a second, plus incentives. As other pitchers sign elsewhere, I guess Jennings is looking better but I still don't like this guy. I'd like to see us try to get Bartolo Colon. Affeldt sounds OK for a lefty relievr.

I can't believe this board has given an almost universal seal of approval to the Erstad deal. I was just sure I would get on here and read from you guys about how we got another washed up player. I mean, it's not like he's set the world on fire last year. Injury problems, and he hit just .248 with four home runs and 32 RBIs in just 87 games last season. I mean, it's not that I DON'T like the deal, I was just expecting a more negative response from this crowd, well from everyone except AB, of course.

I'm thinking that Erstad is taking Orlando Palmeiro's roster spot and anything will be an upgrade over that dead weight.

and he is a great defensive player at 1b and cf, so he will help at the end of ballgames.
Plus, if he is able to turn his career, he would be great but for now, he is just a bench guy and i am happy with that.
Who do you prefer, Lane or Erstad?
