I am trying to look at this logically, and it looks to me that even without the SS, the Astros are a greatly improved team this year versus last year.. I never did understand the "dump Everett movement, as he was defensively the best at a position where defense is valued over offense. I also thought that the last 10 games before he got hurt, Adam was about the best offensive producer on the team.....
all that aside, we dont have Lane, and we dont have Ensberg, thus 25% of the lineup HAS to be better....I think Lidge was done, at least for us.
The Astro teams I liked the best were the ones with great speed and pitching....I cant hardly watch the American league style we have become just sitting around waiting for a big inning especially since it was obvious we didnt have big inning producers.
SS is a huge hole now and we will pay for that, but overall, I STILL like what Wade has done for the most part.
This is the price we pay for being Astro fans anyway....we arent even like Cub fans who get public sympathy...we are more like ...uh...Florida fans...(waoit..they won twice)...uhh...Arizona fans..(damn!...they won also.)...uhh...SanDiegofans...(crap)...Hell....lets face it guys...we are all alone sliding down sh*t creek....

I hope not. The Royals and Rangers don't get much love either. The Astros just seem to make changes for the sake of change sometimes. This year howeve, I think that the changes they have made will result in at least 10-15 more wins, which would win the central most years!

As it stands today my guess is that this is an 85 win team. Better but not good enough.
Either Paulino or Nieve is going to have to step up big time after Backe or Sampson goes down, or if the team finally gets tired of the 5.5 era of Williams for this team to do better than 85 wins.

Keeping Woody Williams in the rotation is a good indication that the Astros don't plan to win this season.

Well now that spring training is about to begin, it's time once again to see what the Astros do and how they are going to address a glaring pitching shortage. I am waiting to see how Cooper does as a full time manager.
