I like Nolan but it sure seems that he will punk the Astros at the drop of a dime. I really wonder what he will be able to do with the Rangers. Will he have input into the personnel, manager and coaching or will he just be a figurehead to give the Rangers a face that everyone recognizes?

Will he have input into the personnel, manager and coaching or will he just be a figurehead to give the Rangers a face that everyone recognizes? That's the same questions they are asking in North Texas. For instance, the question is also being bounced around why Rangers owner Tom Hicks would hire someone to run a major league team who has virtually no experience at the major league level in this area of expertise. Many think it was simply a "feel good hire". The other opinions being expressed as to why Ryan was so interested in going this route via the Texas Rangers is the possibility it would be the route quickest for Nolan to take for possibly owning a major league team at some point in the future. Bottom line is, everyone is not falling all over themselves with uncontrollable joy at the idea of Ryan joining the Rangers as team president. They're more interested in Hicks making the right moves to put a winning team on the field and to hell with the feel good PR stuff.

Is it customary for the owner of 2 minor league teams belonging to one team to be president of another major league team?...My advice is...if you drop your wallet anywhere around Noland, just kick it around the corner before you pickit up.
