I was glad to read that Valverde said he would continue to be fired up and emotional after getting a save or striking out a key hitter. It was also good to see Oswalt comment that he thought this was good and that we needed someone to fire things up. This is in direct opposition to the comments of Lance Berkman who is about as emotional as a wet dish rag and shows absolutely no leadership at all. Berkman has made comments that other Astros agree with him but, so far, nobody has spoken up to support Berkman's comments. www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bb/5547282.html

The Astros have been far too passive for far too long. This guy along with the change in management and coaching will bring about a good change in the overall attitude of the team.
Berkman's leadership style is more like that of Bagwell except he does not have the wisdom to keep it in the clubhouse.
All things considered this team is a +/- 85 win team. If we can catch some breaks or have a couple of guys have huge years then we got a real chance.

Berkman's lackadaisical attitude and way of playing is likely to draw some heat from Cecil Cooper who promises to not put up with lamebrained "silly mistakes" as Cooper calls them. A professional who makes the baserunning blunders that Berkman makes needs to keep his mouth shut about other players who have a fiery attitude. It's attitudes like Berkman's that makes me want to kick his ass.

I think we would all agree that Berkman should just shut up and hit the ball.

Berkman is going to be a distraction if he keeps saying stupid sh*t like this. Why the hell would he want a guy to change when he is being successful? Oh, wait a minute, I see now. Mr. Spock doesn't show emotion so he doesn't want anyone else to show emotion either. Berkman needs to go and get his ears pionted up and shut the hell up. If he put half as much effort into his game as he does running his mouth, he would be MVP!
