Number 1, of course, Biggio. Second, Woody. PUrpura should be fired for signing this guy FOR 2 YEARS and let Pettitte go. Third, Ausmus. This guy has no business playing regular anymore. Fourth, Mohler. Is he on the team? ?? Fifth, Garner. This guy can't manage. a guy making me happy is wandy. I never liked this guy but this year is showing much improvement.

#1 ensberg 2 everett 3 biggio 4 white 5. ausmus
drop 2 out of those three from the starting lineup and astros are immediate contenders..keep them in and they finish 6 games out

Drop Everett out and the defense takes a big hit.

probably chandler...as i have said in the past, while he's a terrific ss, at what cost on offense? if he could hit .260/15hrs/50 rbis we wouldnt be having this conversation...we also wouldnt be talking about this if he played on the red sox or the mets or angels etc...he plays on a team where half the guys arent hitting their weight...while he isnt the only problem he sure as hell isnt the solution...i would much rather have loretta drop a few out there but hit .290 or .330 absolutely

Drop Everett out and you will have some pitchers go on strike. You might not appreciate his defense, but they sure do. One of the big three last year, I don't remember which one, said that Everett saves more runs than he could ever knock in or score.

His offense isn't the problem with this team. Even if he was on a pace to reach those numbers you pulled out of thin air, this team still wouldn't have a good offense. Until Berkman starts hitting for power and we get good production at 3b and RF, it's all a moot point.
Everett is a solution in that, despite having flawed pitching and hitting, we know we're strong defensively at SS, and that's very important.

they keep running berkman out there and he is horrible all around this year..biggio, ausmus cant throw anybody out...the list is endless...not everybody can be tejada but the #'s above shouldnt be too much to ask for..there are many other SS's who field well enough for the astros to look at

I did not mentioned White because i don't feel he will be back, no way we open a spot for him releasing a player for him.

so what Tbone? you can teach a guy to field..maybe not as well but its easier to teach fielding than hitting...(that should be obvious) lane, ensberg, hidalgo..all those guys had/have the tools but lost them....This business is sometimes unforgiving and the bottom line is adam everett is a bottom of the barrel ball player..regardless of how well he fields..'whew, im hitting .180 and we're in last place, but did ya see the grounder i got' lookin good my man.

hembo.. listen to what you are saying. "Teach a MLB player to field"
You only get to the majors if you can hit or field or a decent combo of the 2. You dont teach MLB players to field. You may work on their footwork or other things like that but you cant teach great hands. Lamb has skillets, thats why he isnt good with the glove.

I think you can teach players to field.
Example, Biggio (2nd base).
Example, Berkman, OF
Example, Bagwell, (1b)

Playing a position and fielding are 2 different things. You can either field or you cant. Biggio an Berkman are very talented players also. Forget the range, can you teach Lamb to be a SS

the point of course is being missed...thats obvious AB...he is a terrific fielder..let me come at you another way...its easier to play defense? you disagree? Its easier to fill a defensive position than a good offensive one..This is simple fact. nobody ever said defense wasnt important but on a underachieving team(astros) they dont have the luxury of carrying a .180 hitter.. i dont give a sh*t if he hasnt had an error all year...how many errors could possibly be turned into runs? 5-10%? ;D
Tejada is a bad example because everybody would entertain offers, but there are others out there..
