I find myself in an odd spot ,especially for an astros message board, but im still thinking luke scott is going to be good..he is also starting to hit...while he probably couldnt have got any worse, he is looking good.
although he has hit as of late im still not a big believer in everett and i would certainly get that taken care of if i owned the team
The astros lineup and hitting order needs to be
loretta ss pence cf berkman 1b lee lf lamb 3b scott rf burke 2b whoever at catcher because they all suck pitcher
This lineup would win more games
i think you also have to consider lidge as the closer again..let me do his thing and trade him at As break for another starter...after jennings, sampson and oswalt we have none

You haven't been watching the games if you think Loretta can get the job done defensively at SS.

Chandler, he dislikes Everett and would probably put anyone at SS besides him. Loretta cannot play shortstop.

I understand the desire to improve the offense, I really do. I also understand the importance of defense, especially to the pitchers and their psyches.
I don't mind some of his other suggestions. Right now I'd play Loretta at 3b, Berkman at 1b, and Scott (full time) at RF. Give him another 200 ab out there, without the stupid platoon sh*t, and let's see what Scott can do.
While we're at it, let's cut Miller. Even gallo would be better lol.

Miller is absolutely terrible. If we had lost today, it would have been on Garner for putting Miller in the game. I don't understand why he pulled Jennings after he gave up the hit.

I would have given Jennings at least one more batter. But Qualls came in and did his job and Berkman is starting to get hot, at least when he can stay in the game. He's going to have to start swinging at some of those so called third strikes, as the Umps are calling him close right now. I think they have expanded his strike zone for him because of all his protesting.

not a single player in the infield hitting .250...Things have to change..Thats probably the worst hitting infield in MLB(or close) Its unacceptable and i dont think outside lee and pence, people really need to be spinning how good so and so is or isnt...The team f**king sucks..its clear cut...why not start loretta at SS? we've had this tired old argument a million times...The stros dont have the luxury of carrying 7 out of 9 players batting under .250...The offense is non existant..time to shake it up

also...chandler is right..they need to give luke scott at least a full year...they dont have anything in the minors who would be better at this point and they gave lane enough time..scott deserves a chance

Because he sucks out loud at SS, that's why.

well his offense is as good as everetts defense...we need offense right now ;D Not even close to being the same. Everett is the best SS in the league. Period. Loretta's NOT the best offensive player in the league. I'm not saying Loretta shouldn't bat everyday, but we're much, much, much, much, much better with 3b Loretta & SS Everett than we'd be with 3b Lamb/Ensberg & SS Loretta. Our defense would be a complete nightmare with Lamb at 3b, Loretta at SS, and Biggio at 2b. Whether you want to admit it or not, defense & pitching is half the equation. So are you back to focusing only on batting average again?

It's bad enough that he have a wheelchair case at 2nd and a black hole at 3rd both offensively and defensively. Once you remove Everett from SS then the entire infield is transformed into a "black hole" defensively. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I address the following to all in the forum. I think if we all accept the fact that this is simply a bad ballclub period...then we can all feel better about ourselves and not worry about whether the Astros will win their next game and pray that it might be the beginning of the miracle 15 game winning streak everyone is praying for that will vault them into the race for the Wildcard in the sloppiest division in baseball. If we all just play like were watching the 1963 Colt .45's everyday it will be a lot easier on our stomachs and our blood pressure. ;D

They can forget the wildcard. The division is their only hope.
