abductor strain, with Homer Sampson. I for some strange reason am confident with this move. I am thinking that despite Homer having a miserable record pitching in Atlanta will come up big tonight. But surely this ridiculous optimism must be idiotic and childish. I personally believe they should have pitched Homer last night and given Mohler another day rest. But maybe they will give Erstad more opportunities now since he was in on the two measly runs that the Astros scored last night.

I just want to explain a little better my rational with Erstad and Pence and Bourn. Pence is a right hander that hits better fastball pitchers. So they ought to carefully study his history to see how well he does against pitchers from both the right and the left side and then curveball pitchers and slower pitchers and assess whether he starts based on that. Bourn is left-handed hitter who hits pitchers that don't throw hard better. That is at least my current assessment. Erstad is a left-handed hitter that does well against most right-handed pitching. I haven't spent enough time to know but I know he hits fastballs fairly well. Wiggonton and Blum ought to be assessed on the same basis and Loretta and both shortstops and second basemen should be assessed on the same basis. I believe this gives a better chance of getting a lineup that will have a higher chance of hitting the opposing pitcher.

I should also mention that Ausmus does better against fastball pitchers. I haven't really had time to assess Towles because he didn't hit much the first time up.

Bourn has been a real disappointment, i never believed i could say i miss Willy when we have Bourn outhere, but, the way we are in the standings we need to play Bourn everyday now.

I have to admit that I disagree. I think you have to play to win. Therefore you have to play your best option unless you are out of a game or extravegantly ahead. That is because I believe it is unfair to the player that sits on the bench and unfair to the game itself. If for example they traded Erstad off and got someone lesser than Bourn, then I believe that you could play Bourn. I don't think it does anygood to put someone in a position where he does a poor job. It is better to point out his weakness and have him work on it until he gets better and then use him.

We aren't going anywhere this year anyway. Put Bourn and Towles in the lineup and play them. Until we are willing to spend money on pitching, we will continue to suck. We made no effort to sign Kyle Lohse and we see what he is doing for the Cardinals.

towles and bourn should play, better to lose with young guys than old guys. We have nothing in the minors, and our RF continues with his BAD at bats, last year i said i was worried about him eventough he hit .320 because he could not get any walks nor work counts. We are in deep sh*t, with no pitching. Imagine this, Hernandez, Sampson, Backe and Wandy OUR BEST PITCHER? ??/////

You don't have to imagine it. It is. I have never said that Bourn shouldn't play, I said he shouldn't play everyday and neither should Pence. At least not until they play like they should. We score three runs in the first inning, and they score four. We go ahead then in the fourth and this pathetic excuse for a pitcher gives up 4 more runs. Send that Hernandez to hell. He has proven he can't pitch in the majors.

I think these guys should move in and out for strategic reasons. If they put in a pitcher that Bourn might be good at hitting bring him in take Erstad out or vice versa. I think the same way with Pence. I just think Erstad should be playing when he fits. Cooper had him lost on the bench for the longest time. For me it has never been drop Bourn. He needs to play.

This team sucks so bad that the weather bureau has issued a severe weather warning that a huge low pressure center has settled over Houston. They need to start thinking about restocking their minor league system with some top quality acquisitions and bite the bullet right now and plan for the future. The Astros need to dump Carlos Lee, Miguel Tejada and Roy Oswalt for some top minor league prospects.
Watching these over-priced stiffs play everyday, makes me want to toss up my dinner.

Everyone is on the table as far as I am concerned except Berkman. It is amazing to me that this team has not been scouring the world for pitching. We will have nothing until we care about starting pitching again.

also...why hang onto Berkman?...he is our most tradeable player...If we keep him, by the time we get him any help, he will be too old to play
