Biggio isnt going up against Cy Young or Rogers Hornsby. He may be up against Paizza, Thomas and Glavine and he was better ALL AROUND!
Biggio was alot better ALL AROUND Player than Piazza. I dont think Piazza gets in 1st ballot.
Clemens, Maddux and Biggio are LOCKS 1st ballot, period. There is no discussion.
wtf? hembo.. go back and find that thread and you will see it wasnt me that said Barry had never been convicted or whatever. That was lamearm. I think Barry is guilty as sin. I think the voters pass him on his 1st time.
Clemens, Maddux and Biggio and maybe Bagwell.

Do you know what they're talking about by first ballot? Im saying he will NOT get in first year if he runs against maddux and clemens...it will absolutely not happen...ab, in the history of the HOF theres only been two times where more than 2 people got in when so many qualified people were there to choose from..biggio is a lock for the HOF..thats a no brainer..what im saying is he will NOT get in with that field of people...yes, i will put money on it....providing theres actually that many who retire..someone else said some of these guys are probably going to keep collecting the paychecks...lets see who doesnt come back next year, and we will make a wager...

I think you are wrong. If Clemens, Maddux and Biggio are on the ballot at the same time with the "others" they will get voted in.
But I do understand what you are saying.

no single year has EVER seen more than 4 Well, the first year had 5, so I guess that would be more than 4. The climate has changed a LOT since those guys you mentioned were passed over. The first year they had the hall, many of the voters wanted a very small Hall and didn't vote on guys who were obviously worthy. 70 years later, many have been enshrined that were borderline or simply NOT worthy. If all 6 of those guys retired in the same year, I don't see why they couldn't all make it first time. Like I said, each writer can vote up to 10 times if I remember correctly. Any writer that left off someone like Biggio or Piazza ONLY because he didn't want to vote that many in at once would be a complete idiot. From what I've read, most writers vote for more than 3 a year anyways.

My understanding on the vote is a player has to receive 75% of the votes cast.
Chandler is right... each voting member gets to vote for 10 players.

"any writer that left off someone like Biggio or piazza ONLY because he didnt want to vote that many in at once would be a complete idiot"
Chandler, never, ever underestimate the idiocy of the writers that have a vote...they always are idiots....Hank Aaron, Willy Mays not unanimous...How damned stupid can you get?
For cryin out loud...the Babe wasnt unanimous, so nobody deserves to be...the idiots will line up like lemmings over the cliff

Actually i agree from chandler on downn..Look at that list i wrote..i mean some of those guys were the best of the best in their era and didnt make it right of the bat..Like yogi berra..arguable the best all around catcher in history..jimmi foxx? come on now.... I think its silly as hell too but look for yourselves...They tend to leave a few guys off every time around....

hembo... what happened 71 years ago isnt relevant. Have you seen the list of guys that were eligible in the 1st year of the HOF? You act as if the same guys are voting. When Babe and those guys went in the damn place was new. The voting rules were probably different. I will research to find out for sure. Clemens, Maddux and Biggio are LOCKS. Out of that list you made of potential retirees, please tell me the player who would get in ahead of Biggio. I dont think you understand how the voting works. They arent limited to how many they can vote in. They can vote for 10 players. Clemens, Maddux and Biggio will get in 1st ballot, period. Me personally, I dont know why there are guys like Kirby Puckett in the HOF. Nice player, but I dont think he is HOF.
