Pujols isnt a HOF player. There you go again, annointing players as this or that. If Pujols quit baseball or died he would not be elected into the HOF.
Now, is Pujols on a HOF pace? Yes. Was Berkman? Yes as well. Here is the difference. Pujols is on a Lock 1st ballot HOF pace, Berkman on a needs to play longer and get well over 500 homers to be a borderline HOF possibility. That puts them in the same classroom.

Not according to some of our posters. They think we should trade him for anything we can get.

Guys this isn't the positive only forum....
If someone wants to jump on or off a bandwagon or even set the bandwagon on fire, it's their perogative to do so in this particular forum.
I haven't watched the Astros as much lately either, it doesn't make me a bad fan. I have to allocate my personal time in a manner that I feel is constructive. If you guys can watch bad baseball and enjoy it, then that's a good thing. My hats off to you.
If someone wants to retire, unretire or whatever, it's also their perogative to state it if they want. If the person publicly states their position to not watch the team it's fair game for you to debate the choice. It's not fair game to debate what baseball related comments they choose to make in this forum.
On another note, I do wish a couple of you would stop taking pot shots at each other in every thread. We get it, you don't like each other. No...AB, it's not you this time.

Well said! Just because I personally don't watch the Lastros like we used to, doesn't mean I really hate them. I don't like the way the team is run, I don't like the mental midget manager or the fat boy GM and I particularly don't like that fraud at second. This team needs to be overhauled from Draytie on down. The management does not seem to have a clear goal or a way to get there. Time for some new blood and new thinking.

I knew it wouldn't be long till the old POS Lidge came back, Astros blew it by not trading this bum.

I agree.. should have traded him.
Maybe they tried and didnt get the deal they wanted. Maybe they can unload him this off season.

This is a great opportunity to unload and get some future prospects. Everyone is expendable save Oswalt and Pence...and maybe Berkman. Do I expect that to happen with the brain trust we have running this team? Hell no.

Oswalt, Berkman, Lee and Pence and a few others are good pieces to build on. There is no reason to trade them unless the team has decided they are going to rebuild towards 2013 and beyond.
I dont expect much in 2008 unless Drayton goes crazy and signs Zambrano and Torii Hunter along with a few others. Otherwise this team needs to get Hunter and look towards 2009.

Lidge has had a very good season so far. With him on the staff, that's one less hole that this team has to fill for next year.
AB, in this division, never say never. This team can very much compete in 2008.

I dont disagree with you Chandler. I am talking about winning it all, not just a division title.

dont know about the worst manager but they certainly have one of the most unreliable closers

The guy has 4 blown saves and hasnt been the closer most of the year..if they want to compete i think they should re evalute the closers role.Yes, lidge has been good on occasion but he will never be the shadow of his former self and i think his time here is probably limited. Too risky. Its clear he isnt that good...When on his game he is amongst the best but his track record hasnt been great over the last 2 seasons..bottom line is he isnt the answer and cant be trusted,.

Its clear he isnt that good. Have you watched him pitch at all this year? Not just the Sportscenter highlights where they play up the blown saves, but have you watched him night in and night out? If you had, it's quite clear that he *is* good. This year Lidge has had an ERA of 2.78. He's allowed 37 hits in 45 1/3 innings, striking out 60 batters (11.9 per 9 ip btw), walking 20. That's pretty good IMO. You can't judge him by his blown saves. That can be a misleading stat. You do know that if a pitcher comes in, for example, with a 3-2 lead in the 7th inning with no outs and the bases loaded, and he allows the score to be tied, then he's charged with a blown save for that impossible situation he was put in?

I agree with Hembo. Lidge is a washout...and on my "expendable" list. I forgot to add Carlos Lee to the safe list...but Berkman is on the fence.

I think Garner has made far too many bad decisions this year. I don't know how much blame he should be saddled with, but it seems a lot of his impact seems negative rather than positive this season.
