I know you would. You want anyone but who is here. If Lou was here after time you would do the same with him. He makes horrible moves and is an old man who makes a fool of himself.

Well.. then we just disagree.
The greatest manager in baseball couldnt have done much better with this team.

Really? You think a different manager would have this team in contention? You really think that?
I would give you that a different manager could have 2 maybe 3 more wins, but thats about it. Even great managers make mistakes so you cant say he would have done everything different than Garner. This team just isnt very good.

well thats what you said last year as well, ab..How did the cards end up? The cardinals offense will keep them in it... Cubs possibly but more than likely they will not..Cubs have always been a great third place team...they have been good a few times since the turn of the century...Theres a reason they're called the lovable losers.

Lets see, with Lou managing he takes no CRAB from owner or players, is his way or the high way, same with Larussa.
With Lou the team from day one is:
1. Pence cf 2. Burke/Loretta starting 2b 3. Lamb starts at 3b/1b 4. Berkman starts at rf 5. Lou would be on Berk's ass for his playing this year
Lou takes no sh*t from players and would not make the DUMB moves we've seen in the past from Garner, and by the wy, 2 or 3 games, thats what took for the Astros to lose last year

You mean the offense that is 26th in the league in runs scored (30 or so runs below the Astros)?? The Cardinals offense is not good this year. Far from it.

Drayton writes the checks and Lou would have done what Drayton said or been fired. With that said, I don't blame Garner for the fiasco this season has been..........that goes squarely at the feet of Draytie and his fat little lapdog. This season was all about getting Biggio his hits and saving money. If they thought they could trade Pettitte and Clemens for Woody and Jennings and still win, they were idiots to begin with. Giving Woody a two-year deal worth $12.5 million was lunacy......almost as stupid as the trade that cost us Taveras, Hirsch, and Buchholz and brought us a piece of sh*t in return. The fact that Purpura still has his job is a sign that Draytie doesn't care about winning this season.

AB, believe me, IF Lou was here Biggio does not start, he takes no sh*t from ownership.
He play his guys or he goes, period. He is a Hall of Fame manager, he takes no sh*t from any owner, thats why you will not SEE THAT KIND OF MANAGER IN HOUSTON.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I said at the time we gave up too much. Taveras, Pence and Lee might've been quite a serviceable outfield. I think we're 15th in OPS in right field in the NL this season.
Bottom line is, as much as Purpura and Garner have monkeyed about, its the players who have got to get it done, and quite simply they haven't.
We've had major problems in the bullpen, starting rotation and lineup. This isn't one big problem, its lots of little ones.
