We have had that kind of manager in Houston.
Vega, you dont know what Lou will do and wont do. They all ultimately do what the owner of the team wants.
Go talk to Cards fans about TLR.

Now i see why you dislike Lou, you just don't know him much. Hall of Fame coaches make their OWN decisions. Do you think Leyland will ask the owner what to do? Larussa? Lou Piniella? Cox? Sorry, but i don't see that happening.

And no, we have not had that kind of manager, the closest to that would be Bill Virdon.

Please Vega.. all these guys work for the owners, period. They do what they can with what they are given.
Biggio would have played the same no matter who was manager. No manager will get between an Owner and his $$$$. You ought to know that by now. The Cubs are winning because they are not a bad team. It took a little bit to get the thing going but it is now. It isnt Lou Pinella. His in game management isnt much different that Garners.
Do you really think Lou getting in a younger players faces who have a multi-year deals for ALOT more money than him and who can kick the crap out of Lou without breaking a sweat are worried or scared of him? No, there was an article about his players laughing at him. Lou Pinella is a circus act. He stopped being a good manager a LONG time ago, if he ever was.
Why is he a HOF manager? What the hell has he done. He only won 1 WS. He is barely above .500.

if Lou was an Astro he would be a Hall of Fame coach, believe me. NOW the Cubbies are a good team, lol I remember how much sh*t they took abot the moves, Lilly, Marquis, ect. This is about the same team with the exception of Soriano who has not made the Rangers any better, actually, he is the only real difference on offense from last year. Astros, we got Lee. Pitching, they have 2 new guys, Lilly and Marquis, Astros? Jennings and Woody. NOW, BIG DIFFERENCE? // THE HALL OF FAME COACH.

I will ask again. What makes Pinella a HOF manager? I am asking your opinion on why you think he will end up in the HOF with guys like Cox, Torre, TLR and the like. I dont think he is, but I want to know why you think he is.

If Lou makes the HOF it will be for most bases kicked during his career. Also, he's right there with Billy Martin when it comes to covering home plate with dirt. BTW, Martin was twice the manager that Piniella is.

Because he is a very good manager and USUALLY teams he manages do BETTER when HE IS MANAGING the team.

Vega.. thats doesnt make him a HOF manager. Lou isnt going to the HOF as a manager. His career hasnt been anything special.
As far as HIS teams doing better. Well... The Yankees were worse with him at the helm, hell he was fired in mid season and replaced with Billy Martin.
HIs 1990 Reds team that won the WS was a fluke, as they finished 5th in the divison the following year. He has never been that close again and with better, ALOT better teams in Seattle.
Lou Pinella is a circus act now. He may have been pretty decent at one time, but he is NOT a HOF manager.

Really, tellme where seattle has gone AFTER HIM. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Lou is a Hall of Fame coach and believe me, IF he was an Astro you would say he is. Imagine, you said Scott was an All Star player and compared Ensberg to Arod, right?

Vega... 1) I didnt say Scott was an All Star player. I said he would be. 2) IN 2005 Ensberg was comparable to Arod, for that season. 3) No, I wouldnt think Lou Pinella was a HOF manager if he was in Houston 4) Seattle is in the same place without him. Lou had Arod and Griffey along with great pitching in Seattle and couldnt win the big one.
Vega.. you have turned into hembo. When you have no facts you try and degrade the debate into a flaming argument by insulting the poster instead of the issue. I know I have you slammed against a wall when you start doing that as you are here. What do Scott, Ensberg or Arod have to do with this. Is that what your going to say everytime you have nothing? You going to lie about what I said about Ensberg/Arod in 20005? Or that I said Scott is an Allstar? Is that what you have become?
Quit being a child and answer the question.... What has Pinella done to be in the HOF? How is he special? It is a very simple question Vega.
