what is our rotation shaping up to be next year
obviously Oswalt will be the ace but what about all these young guys we got i think albers has a good chance and wandy has shown good potential this year( even though he has sucked on the road) but i think bringin back williams as a #4 or 5 would be good but what do yall think.

williams is signed for next year.
Question is, will we re sign Jennings?

If we even attempt to re-sign Jennings, we don't want to win.

The real problem is that there is just nothing out there without over-paying for mediocre talent.
Maybe something will change in the off-season and one or 2 decent pitchers will emerge and not want gazillion dollars in salary. But I would not hinge my future on that.
Our best bet is to try and get something from the younger guys. It looks like Wandy is starting to come around, at least at home and maybe someone else will also.
Too early to tell what will shake out until later in the off-season.

AS long aa we get rid of Jennings, I'll be happy. He won't be too difficult to replace.

Patton is going to need some more time at that level but I think he will be our best bet to make an impact mid to late season next year

I would see if we can trade Patton, Guierrez and whomever for Johan Santana.

Patton is interesting. He has had 6 starts in AAA. 4 good and 2 bad. He seems to follow a pattern though in his development kind of like Pence did where he struggles, adjusts and then does well. I would not say dominate because even in AA this year he looked good, not great.
If he can stay in this same pattern I would like to see him up for a few starts this year in September and then see how he adjusts next spring.
Albers is like Qualls. He will make a good 7th inning guy but not a starter.
So to start the year we would have
Oswalt Backe Rodriguez Sampson Williams
Then after Patton has his fill in AAA and is ready to roll drop the guy who is under performing. Looks like we need to score some runs next year to have a chance. At least that is the way I see it.

I would see if we can trade Patton, Guierrez and whomever for Johan Santana. If you will remember, we had Johann Santana and let him go in the Rule 5 draft. Another intelligent move by the idiots making personnel decisions.

Please dont let Jennings be part of the Astros 2008 and beyond pitching staff. He is worse than Redding starting to make other pitchers looks like Aces that we all wanted gone

Redding always had good stuff. He was just a mental midget. Maybe he is going to finally get it together.
Jennings just flat sucks.
