Actually, for the last 3 years Biggio is the ONE HUMILIATING himself, really. Even with a decline is his production, and the fact that he is now over 40.... The last three years, averaged. Biggio: .255 BA, .734 OPS Burke: .251 BA, .703 OPS So, if Biggio has humiliated himself over the last three years, what exactly has Chris Burke done? After all, he has been worse then Biggio. Goku

Of the years mentioned by Goku, Burke has plyed over 320 at bats ONLY once. That means he has played PART TIME BASEBALL. Out of position. Of the 3 year counting this one, 2 bad ones, 1 good one. Now, the first one, after he took REGULAR AT BATS his numbers increased BIG TIME. That has been proven already. Actually, he CONTINUED to play regular ball in the playoffs and WE ALL KNOW WHAT HAPPEN. Second year, well, he had 366 at bats, and began to play more regularly and his numbers were .276/.347 obp and .418 slugging, very nice numbers. So, in his third year what happen? ?/ Again, to the BENCH. Actually, sent TO THE MINORS, again. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, yes, Biggio is humiliating himself with his play, now THE ASTROS ORGANIZATION IS HUMILIATING BURKE by not playing him, sending him to the minors and screwing a good career, a second basemen able to hit .280/15 homers and .350 OBP. Now, on those 3 years Biggio had 590 at bgats, 548 at bats and the at bats this year as a REGULAR SECOND BASEMEN. Can you see the DIFFERENCE? Young guys playing PART TIME BASEBALL? // sTUPID, then again, ASStros organization has been a very stupid organization in the last 3 years, really.

Well just to use your measuring stick. Biggio is a Hall of Famer, Burke is not. Besides, Burke has never hit for the numbers you are listing so there is NO data that points to that particular trend except for your wishful thinking Burke has not earned doodly-squat with his play. I hope Burke turns out to be a quality player but right now he is nothing more than a bench player.

Preach on, Vega. You are right about the Astros humiliating Burke. The guy would already have established himself if we hadn't been so hell bent on pacifying icon Biggio and getting him his 3,000 hits, even though he has killed this team most of the year with his pitiful defense and horrible OBP.

JB, I hope you are joking about Burke. He has done nothing to show that he belongs on the field everyday.

By that, I mean be given the job with Biggio out of the way. Tonight, Biggio killed us at the plate and on defernse. I wish he had gone to the house once he got his 3,000th hit.

well I can live with him being given a shot but I don't think he has shown anything to indicate that he has earned a shot. He will get his chance by default next season and I hope he takes advantage of his opportunity. If he starts off slow, then he will shown the bench. I would much rather just resign Loretta and let him play there.
Besides Biggio may have had an off-year but he is far from the main reason we have had a poor season. that can be summed up in one word...pitching.

Still living through that second half 2 seasons ago, are ya? Good for you. Hang on to that...it may be all you will ever have with your precious Burkey. There is an old saying: "What have you done for me lately?" However, I think in Burke's case its: "What have you ever done for me at all besides hit one HR in the playoffs 2 years ago?"
