Uhhh... Berkman was bad in April and May, but starting in June he was Berkman of old. In fact... June was a HUGE month for him. He had a bad July average wise, but his power has been there since June.
I know you get these ideas in your head. But Berkman had a bad 2 months. I am quite sure he didnt do it on purpose. I agree he appears to lack focus. But I think he very much cares.

No you didnt. His .326 Batting average in 2007 gets him in? I am asking you a siple question Vega. If Vlad stopped playing RIGHT now would he be voted into the HOF based on what he has done to date? ? Just answer that. Injuries are part of the game Vega. They happen. |

AB...once again...I cant bel;ieve you say what you say..Baseball has become, more than any other professional sport, a game in which teams have no playoff chance right from the first game....you are telling me that when a team decides it is out of contention it is ok to sit players and tell others they dont have to play full out? ...That seemed like what you were saying. I will say that unlike some posters here, I dont think your being an unabashed homer is a bad thing...fact is...I like that about you...I think a guy should stand up for his team......but dammit all...they have to play hard....they have to...what is next?...somebody "suggesting they dont play hard for a particular series, ala the blacksox?...is that different/...is it? The integrity of the game has to be above reproach, and the pronouncement from you to the contrary (who cares whether you give a sh*t who plays)...does not make it ok |

But you misundertand me. I am not saying the team tells them to do anything. I am saying they are human. They arent going to play as hard being out of the hunt.
What I care about isnt the issue.
Yes, the team should play the young guys and look to 2008. Teams do it every year. There is no problem with that.

Who said 50%? BUT...How does it cause injuries? I want to hear your freaking medical diagnosis on this one. Baseball isnt a contant sport like football. IN football you play all out and keep your head in the game or your get hurt.

[Let me be clear.... I am not Vega. There isnt a baseball player dead or alive that would be one of my Heroes. My Heroes arent people who play games for a living. Baseball players are entertainment. Period.]
Thank you! I never have understood how someone can call a ball player a "hero". They are not. A HERO is someone who places his own safety or life on the line to save another.
I have never heard of a life or death situation in sports. Unless you are some a$$h*le that gets in with the mob!

Actually, I do have 1 baseball player i considered a hero and his name is ROBERTO CLEMENTE and you know why? ??///// Because he died helping OTHER PEOPLE. So, for the first time i use hero and a baseball player in the same sentence and i do it with a lot of PRIDE. |
