This team is an embarrassment and is just mailing in the rest of the season. The only one who plays like he cares is Pence. Berkman's pouting and leaving men on base have gotten old. He looks like he needs a pacifier. The pitchers all suck. I've never seen one any worse thna Borkowski, who comes in from the pen throwing BP. I hope we have the good sense to let this bum go during the off-season.
The record we have now is what happens when you have basically a team of utility players and a rotation of mostly #5 starters who suck and a bullpen that's even worse. We need to back up the van and ship most of the pitchers the hell out of here.

Wave the white flag as opposed to what? Are they supposed to stop playing the games?

I'd like to see them really test the younger guys like Towles, etc.
But 4 out of their last 6 series are against contending teams so it's probably not fair to put much less than your best team on the field.

finally we agree...berkman has been a huge failure this year...his hitting now does zero good..where was it in july? Where was he in April, May, and, June? Mostly getting thrown out of games, serving suspensions for making an ass of himself, and whining because Burke got sent back to RR. Berkman's failures plus the sh*tty pitching of Jennings and Woody killed us from the beginning.

Wave the white flag as opposed to what? Are they supposed to stop playing the games? That's just it, AB. These guys aren't playing the games. They are just showing up, laying down, and letting the opposition run all over them. They don't even put up a fight. The only one who plays like he gives a sh*t is Pence. It's time to tell El Dumbo in left field to either hustle and run out ground balls or sit his fat ass in the dugout. There is no excuse for dragging ass on the field.

Why should they be out there risking injury? They are playing out the string. There is no reason to play. I dont blame them. I would shut down Oswalt as well.
Lee is hurt. He has a hip thing.

AB...I could not disagree more...in fact I think that is a naive statement...I do agree they are playing out the string.
If Lee is hurt...if he cant give full effort, he should be sitting and let someone else play. People get hurt playing at half speed...the integrity of the game depends on teams trying to win
nobody who is getting paid in the millions should ever be given the "ok" to loaf...cant be done...whatever made you say anything like that?

Why should they be out there risking injury? They are playing out the string. There is no reason to play. I dont blame them. I can't beleive you said that. They are professionals, and need to give a professional effort. If they can't, they should be gone. They have the ability to influence who wins the Central. That, and playing for next year's jobs, should be motivation enough. It seems you like quitters on the team. You can have them. They are a bunch of frontrunners. Just like you.

1st.. No one gets hurt playing 75% in Baseball, you are confusing your sports. Thats football. They are playing and they are trying, but it isnt the same. 2nd.. They arent quitters. They are human beings. There is no way you can give the same effort as if it means something. That is a human emotion.
So you want Pence to dive for balls and risk injury when it doesnt matter? They are playing AAA players for Gods sake.
I wouldnt pitch Oswalt another inning. He has thrown alow of innings the last few years and he isnt 100%.
I could give a sh*t about other teams. This is about the 2008 Astros and beyond. Its a business. I would be protecting my a$$ets.

When guys making millions to play baseball think dragging their ass is acceptable, then, they are losers. Right now, I view Lance Berkman as childish and lazy. Lee hustles when he thinks it will benefit him. After all, why should a guy making $16 million a year have to work? We pay Berkman and Lee a combined $30 million a year. It is NEVER acceptable for them to drag their lazy asses. If a player is hurt, let him sit........not drag around embarrrassing himself and the team. AB thinks his heroes can do no wrong even when they suck, like Berkman did early in the year when it counted. Now, that we are out of the race, the bum starts hitting to pad his stats. When I hear them interview this clown and listen to his "who gives a crap" attitude, I want to knock him on his ass.

NO I dont and I didnt say that. Unlike you I also dont think they are MY fieldhands either. You seem to think that because they make more money than you it somehow changes them into superhuman. I doubt you give 100% at your job everyday and have everyday of your life. The money is relative. The money means alot to you because you dont have it. It doesnt mean as much to them. They should hustle because its their job, not because of the money. I personally dont give a sh*t about it. The season is over.
Let me be clear.... I am not Vega. There isnt a baseball player dead or alive that would be one of my Heroes. My Heroes arent people who play games for a living. Baseball players are entertainment. Period. I can take it or leave it. I damn sure dont live it.
But JB, arent you the one that started this thread and said " waive the white flag" ??

Now, that we are out of the race, the bum starts hitting to pad his stats. Question: Do you really believe that or are you just stirring things up? I'm trying to figure out how much credibility to place on everything else you post.

:yeah, I started this thread, AB. I'm glad you can read and comprehend that much. gary, maybe it is just coincidental, but, Berkman didn't do squat until we were practically out of the race. Check for yourself. What did he do in April, May, and, June...............not a damn thing.
