So Roy O missed a start because his wife was having a baby. Big deal. I think that a baby is more important than a baseball game any day of the week. Personally I think the pitchers make way too much money anyway. Why should he be paid 2 or 3 times more for working once every 5 days over a player who plays every day? During the old days, these guys would be laughed off the diamond if they would have asked for 4 days off between starts. Sometimes back then, pitchers would pitch a double header without relief. Just one more observation. IF I was a professional athlete, I would not even get married until I was in the twilight of my career. Troy Aikman said it best. The reason he did not get married until he was retired from football is because being married causes distractions and he would not have been able to give the team his best effort. More athletes should take this to heart. I always thought it was because Troy never found the right guy until after he ws done playing.

Supply & demand.
It was also a lot more common back then for pitchers to be finished with pitching by the age of 28 after throwing too many pitches.
