Trailing tonight game by 3 runs and Philly leading tonight if the score holds up the Mutts will have lost a 7 game lead with 17 games to go. Will trail Philly by a game with two to go and I don't think Philly will lose a game if they get the division lead tonight. the Mutts only chance will be a tie for the WC and its not looking good for that

But remember, Carlos Beltran made the right decision going to the Mets.

Mets have lost first place in division and face not making the playoffs with a loss in game 160 and led for a 159 games, worse collapse of a MLB Team History

Pitching and defense wins.
This is why I dont think the Yankees and Mets will do squat. If Arod hadnt had that monster contract year the Yankmees wouldnt even be in it. But he did, so we will have to suffer thru another postseason of hearing about Clemens.

another manager out of a job for sure Don't expect to see Randolph fired. He doesn't pitch, and, besides.......he's black. He has job security.

I do agree with ab(first time for everything) good pitching will always beat good hitting...without fail..im not going to say the mets have the third highest payroll(because stat master will swoop in for a petty)but im thinking they do...the owner expects more out of this team and quite frankly has earned the right to be pissed...

Its the GM fault for not getting them any pitching.

The GM wouldn't trade one or two of the young kids for some good pitching. He was being a TPURP on believing in his boys. Reyes had a horrible second half. They have enough young kids to have picked up a couple good to above average pitchers to win it all. Being stubborn and only wanting his Latin Players cost Minaya his chance of of a Ring this year

Thing is, Mets have a great farm system, i would not trade a guy like pelfrey, Humber nor Milledge.
Now, i believe he made a big mistake by not tradeing a guy like Fernando Martinez or Carlos Gomez because they have a lot young OFers in the organization.
I think they could had traded a young guy like that for a starter from A's or Florida.
They could have give a lot for Willis.

Pelfry sucks is not going to be a top Pitcher, The Mets or another team with 3 through 5 type pitchers. They might have a couple of Number 2 in Glavin and Pedro only because they are old and only sometimes show the brilliance that was a TOP NUMBER 1 Pitchers that they were
When they need a top game pitch IE LAST NIGHT they had to rely on the likes of Perez to pitch a win and he Sucked when it counted most giving up 6 runs to the likes of Florida. They truly have had the worse collapse in MLB HISTORY because Minaya would not trade for better pitching he was a TOP LINE TPURP when he made these decisions, I would not want him to be my GM. He didn't build the Farm System.

I never had the Mets winning anything because i did not like their pitching, i also believed they made a BIG mistake trading Bell (i am a big Bell fan, i have him in my strat league and never gave on him because like sarfate, he always had very good minor league numbers and scouts loved the guy, pity astros did NOT go after him). Actually, Glavine and Maine have done MUCH better than expected, same with Perez. Minaya did bad not signing any pitcher through FA nor trading for one. Then again, better not trading that trading 3 young guys for Jennings, RIGHT? ?///////

Their pitching is fine?? LMAO No actually it isnt. But whatever you say hembo.
NO one disputes the trade was bad Vega.... but once again that has NOTHING to do with this thread.
Vega... Purpura is gone and isnt coming back. Biggio has 2 more games and then he is gone. Those trades are done. Get over it.
