Well, our little team icon is whining again. This time, it's about Garner dropping him down to 6th in the batting order. Hell, he should be glad he's still in the lineup because his worthless butt should be riding the pine. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: Biggio unhappy with demotion Second baseman vows to regain role as leadoff hitter By Alyson Footer / MLB.com

HOUSTON -- Craig Biggio has been dropped in the batting order before, but having been through this already doesn't mean the proud second baseman has to like it. To go from leadoff to sixth is undoubtedly a demotion for the club's all-time hits leader. Biggio's not happy about it and expressed as much prior to Tuesday's game, which marked his third consecutive start in his new spot in the order.
"It matters to me," Biggio said. "Do I like it? No. I hate it. I know some people here are happy that I'm out of there again. For me, I know I have to start swinging the bat better. Once I start swinging the bat better, I'll be back at the top of the order. It's something that I've got to fix, watch video and make it right."
Biggio, who was dropped to sixth late last season, was hitting .228 through Sunday's game and finished the road trip with two hits in 17 at-bats. He was hitting .207 in May, but doubled in his first at-bat Tuesday, marking his 2,973rd hit.
Manager Phil Garner spoke with Biggio while the team was in Arizona and informed the second baseman of his plans.
"He called me in the office and told me what he was doing," Biggio said. "He's the manager. If I was doing better, I wouldn't be hitting there. It's simple as that. He's just trying do whatever he can to get us going. I need to swing the bat better."
Mike Lamb batted leadoff both times that Biggio hit sixth on the road, and Morgan Ensberg was moved up to leadoff on Tuesday. Garner vowed to move Biggio back to the top of the order when he starts hitting better.
"When the hits start falling for him he'll go right back," Garner said. "I don't like him down there, either. I like him at the top of the lineup. That's where he's done best."

Well, now you see why i don't care about Biggio and his 3,000 hits.
He only thinks about himself and not THE TEAM nor the ORGANIZATION.

This over-the-hill clown needs to shut up. He's been spoon-fed by this organization for years. We dumped one of the top clutch hitters in the game to move his whining ass back to second base. Everytime he's whined about something, Drayton has kissed his butt and appeased him at the expense of the team as a whole. I'd say that Jeff Kent would look pretty good in this lineup right now.
The team has re-signed him when it was in their best interest to let him go home. This organization has been MORE than loyal to Craig Biggio and he needs to shut his damn mouth. In fact, if he cared about the team, he'd go to Garner and tell him to sit him down.

Yes, agree on Kent and ALSO has helped to stop the development on Burke who could had helped the team this year if he had more at bats in the past 2 years.
Biggio is killing this organization and I give sh*t about his 3,000 hit.
Before, 3 years ago i had him as one of top 3 second basemen of all time, playing so badly in the past 3 years he has gone down in my book.
Now I have Hornsby, Alomar, Eddie Collins, Lajoie, Carew before him.

At the risk of you calling me out again unfairly, how is this whining?
When you coached teams, and you had to demote a guy or move him down in the lineup, did you want him to be happy that you did it??? Hell no. He's not whining about Garner or saying he disagrees. He says "I know I have to start swinging the bat better. Once I start swinging the bat better, I'll be back at the top of the order. It's something that I've got to fix, watch video and make it right." and then "He's the manager. If I was doing better, I wouldn't be hitting there. It's simple as that. He's just trying do whatever he can to get us going. I need to swing the bat better.""

Answering a reporters question and telling them that you know you deserved it and you need to work harder isn't whining. You guys are looking for any excuse to rag on Biggio.

Chandler, Biggio was stirring up unneeded controversy and he knew it. He should have just kept his mouth shut. I can just see him......shrugging his shoulders and saying "It's Gars call". What can I do? Like Vega said, Biggio is killing this organization. This season is being sacrificed so he can go after his 3,000 hits. He's real team player, isn't he? What a pathetic joke. Biggo is a very little man in my book.

They arent sacrificing the season for Biggio. Do you really believe that if Burke or Loretta were starting at 2nd instead of Biggio this would be a World Series contender? Do you really think that Biggio makes that much of a difference?

Chandler, Biggio was stirring up unneeded controversy and he knew it. How would that possibly stir up controversy? Most people that read it are going to be rational and take it for what it is - a guy who realizes that HE is to blame for the demotion and admitting that he needs to work harder. Nowhere does he question the decision or say he disagrees with it. I'm really trying to see it your way and see the whining, but I can't find it.

No, Craig, even if you "start hitting again" you don't belong in the lead-off role. This just shows you don't know jacksquat about baseball. If you did, if wouldn't have taken you FIFTY F*CKING AT BATS for you to draw your first walk this year. FIFTY AT BATS.....FROM A SELF-PROCLAIMED LEAD-OFF HITTER. Craig, let me teach you a little Baseball 101 here. Lead-off hitters GET ON BASE. That is their job. The better ones steal an occasional base. The better ones don't swing at 2 strike sliders in the dirt 1500 times in a career. The better ones don't go 2 for 30 when they are in their prime and a small "sample size" comes their way to make a difference in the post-season. Please, get your goddam 3,000th hit, say a few of your trite platitudes and let us get on about the business of trying to win a World Series before every single fan who ever saw a game in 1962 is DEAD.

I don't blame Biggio. The fault for his still being in the line-up, for still being a lead-off hitter falls squarely on the shoulders of three people: Phil Garner, Tim Purpura, Drayton McClane.
Phil: For not benching and/or adjusting Biggio's place in the line-up.
Tim: For not supporting Phil in this move (that he's too scared to make).
Drayton: For placing $$ before winning.
The only reason Craig Biggio is still playing major league baseball is because it equates to money in the bank for McClane. Do any of you think for one second that if Biggio is still batting .220'ish the day after he hits 3,000 that we will still be in the everyday line-up ? In the leadoff position ? Come on.
I can't blame Biggio, or anyone else, for wanting to make good money playing baseball. If they paid me a couple of million dollars a year to go out there and make a complete fool of myself, I would do it.
Biggio has, in my opinion lowered his career value by sticking around too long. In his pursuit for the HoF and 3k hits, he has shown a selfish side to his character (not to mention loweed his career stats). I'm afraid he will leave some Houston fans with a bitter taste in theirs mouths once he finally takes that last swing at the plate.
Again....you can be mad at Craig for letting us down, but the blame is not his.

Go back to bed, 14ALL. Crash Test and notdead both hit the nail on the head. I've said the same thing Crash did about Biggio's hitting for years. I can't begin to count the number of rallies he's killed by striking out on pitches in the damn dirt. The best thing that can happen to this team is for him to get his damn 3,000 hits and RETIRE.

yes, Biggio makes a big difference, why? Instead of Biggio it could be Kent.
Having Berkman 3, Lee 4, Kent 5 is very good, and Pence 6, that would be a very good lineup.
Or, with Burke, lets say we don't win but at least WE ARE DEVELOPING THE FUTURE.
