If I'm the Astros my next move is to trade Everrett, Burke, and Wiggington to the Cardinals for Scott Rolen and a #5 starter.

Now watch the Astros release Adam Everett only to have him sign with Baltimore. Couldn't we have included him in the deal instead of Albers or Sarfate?

Are we sure that Tim Purpura hasn't been rehired as GM? This looks like a deal Purpura would make. We are hurting for starting pitching so we deal Troy Patton.......stupid. Sarfate was lights out in September so we deal him, too..........stupid. Even thinking about non-tendering Adam Everett is ridiculous unless he has taken a physical that proves he can't play SS any longer. I would have included Wigginton in that deal. We screwed up in dealing Patton.

Shouda held out longer to keep Troy, what other teams were even going after the guy? We potentially have a pretty good lineup depending how Bourn & Towels hit. But damn, 0 pitching after Oswalt.

Ouch!!! Patton AND Sarfate. I could see one of those going in the trade for Tejada but BOTH. That is a bit excessive IMO. I hope Wade has figured out how to pull more pitching out of his ass before Spring training starts.

Unless Wade has has another trade or FA signing ready to get some starting pitching, acquiring Tejada's bat is pointless. We still lose 90 games with the current pitching staff.

This lineup is right up there with anyones. This wade guy means business...i think this lineup will get them into post season almost guaranteed... Now will they force tejada to play 3b and keep the deadweight at SS or dump MR greatest SS? Detroit and Boston are the only other teams that can compete with this Astros lineup...on that note, both of those teams have some of the best pitching around as well so unless Roy O can pitch every other game i have to agree with JB...then again theirs no real telling who will stand up...

Glad that Tejada is an Astro, disappointed that Patton is not.
This line up will score a ton of runs and give the remaining young guys time to learn the ropes. Expect a lot of 8-7 and 7-6 games. More wins than loses though and that will be a very good thing.
We now have to get either Jennings or some other retread.

I've decided that I'm no longer going to comment one way or the other concerning the acquisition of Tejeda. I'll just wait and see what happens.
Now....when are the Astros going to get serious about a pitching staff?

Patton's the main one of the 5 that it's going to hurt to lose, but I've been saying since I saw him pitch down in AA last year that he wasn't nearly as impressive as I thought he'd be.

Paulino and Guiterrez both looked more impressive than Patton to me. But, I still don't think we should have included Patton in that trade. Also, since Wade plans to drop Everett, who the hell is going to be our utility infielder? Please don't tell me that Mark Loretta can cover SS because he can't cut it there. I'm sure Burke will be traded so that leaves him out.

i have little doubt believing that people will forget everett if tejada is hitting .320, driving in runs and playing descent SS
