Glad that Tejada is an Astro, disappointed that Patton is not. I think that pretty much sums it up, Mike. I do think in the long run the sting of losing Sarfate is going to hurt too.

Now that the Astros have a decent line up, let's see what Wade does for pitching. Roy O can't pitch every game.
Maybe NASA has some spare parts from rebuilding Steve Austin laying around and we can get Roy a bionic arm so he can pitch every day. ;D

Is it just me or does anyone else think Wade looks like the comdedian Dana Carvey when he would do his GW Bush Sr imitation on Saturday Night Live?? When I see Wade giving an interview that is all I can think of.

I had said earlier this year that there was no way that we could make a 200 run swing from 07 to 08. I said that there was just too much that had to be done in order to get this accomplished.
Well with the addition of Tejeda we can now project that the Astros will score more than 100 runs than they did last year.
With the defensive changes made and the bullpen improvements it is also likely that we will give up about 25 runs less. So more work to do in shoring up the pitching staff but one hell of an improvement so far.

I agree Mike. I think the offense is better as well as the defense. I think if the pitchers can keep us in the game, the offense will catch up.
However, we will need Wandy to progress further and Backe will need to eat up 140+ innings. Roy will need to bounce back a bit and some of the young guys will need to step up. Not sure if that will add up to the remaining 75 runs but it would be a start.
Maybe add in a (healthy)Pryor and/or Clement and you might be a little closer to the magic 200 run swing

Maybe thats how he is swinging some of these deals. Baffling them with humor to get the other GM's to sign on.
I realize we have lost a few prospects but we have truly upgraded some areas on need.
I don't think we are done just yet, plenty of offseason to go.
