Chad Qualls, Juan Guiterrez, and Chris Burke. Just reported on ESPN. We now have our closer!! I hated to give up Guiterrez. Wade is wiping us out of young pitchers.

Good trade for Houston. They trade a good but maddeningly inconsistent reliever, Burke, and a prospect for one of the best closers in the league last year, a guy that is just entering his prime and can't be a free agent until after 2009.

Wade did good with this deal but WE STILL NEED AT LEAST TWO STARTING PITCHERS.

Yes, yes we do. We have the offense, we have a fairly good bullpen now, but we have one ace and 4 #5s.

With the additions to the bullpen and the Offense, all we really need now is one or 2 really good innings eaters. I don't think we need a bunch of aces, just someone who can keep us in the game until we score some runs.

I really don't think Kaz Matsui is going to give us anything more than Burke would have in any aspect of the game. Still, I bet he's glad to get the hell outta here, after pissing away his career waiting for 3k. I'm not saying we should have kept him, he never made much of whatever limited chances he got. But Matsui is no better than Burke and he is a waste of money.

He will not play at AZ, they have Hudson over there.

The moves of the Astros tells me they will sign one starter.
I don't think there will be a trade for a starter because we don't have any value to trade.
I think is going to be Silva or Jennings.
Now, this would be the rotation:
1. Oswalt 2. Jennings/Silva 3. Wandy 4. Backe 5. Woody
I expect Clemens pitching for the Astros in teh second half next year.
This team really has a chance, FINALLY we have a GM in Houston.

Right now there is only 4 spots open. There should be 13 position players and 12 pitchers. Open, Number 13th player, right now is Abercrombie. Pitchers, a number 2 starter. Other 2 are the 12th men on the pitching staff, Nieve? and a lefty, McLemore? Bullpen looks like: 1. Valverde 2. Brocail 3. Villareal 4. McLemore? 5. Geary 6. Sampson 7. Nieve?

I really don't think Kaz Matsui is going to give us anything more than Burke would have in any aspect of the game. Kaz is better defensively and with more range and a better arm. We have not had defense like that @2b since Biggio was in his early 30's I agree that Burke may have had more power but after 1000 AB's and yet to break the career number of .240. I think its time to close the book on Burke. I can agree that Burke may not have had a job handed to him but sometimes to show you belong, you have to take advantage of your opportunities. Burke just never did shine when he had the chance except for one HR in the playoffs.

Nahhhhhh, in 2006 he posted good numbers, and in the second half and playoffs in 2005 he did very good with the Astros, but, Astros wanted to give 3,000 hits to Biggio over a younger guy that was doing better. Thats the trught. Now, CONTINUING with the thread, the 25 men roster is: Right now there is only 4 spots open. There should be 13 position players and 12 pitchers. Open, Number 13th player, right now is Abercrombie. Pitchers, a number 2 starter. Other 2 are the 12th men on the pitching staff, Nieve? and a lefty, McLemore? Bullpen looks like: 1. Valverde 2. Don't forget about that lefty they took in the Rule 5 Draft. He has a shot at making the team in the pen.

Listen if we signed someone like Silva after everything else that has happened this off season you can just pencil the Astros into the playoffs. Short of some terrible run of luck with injuries this team with Silva has to be the favorite for not only the Central but for the NL rep in the series.
