This crap going on in Congress will not amount to squat. The Mitchell report is a joke and merely a smokescreen. Tejada, Clemens, or none of the rest of them will be indicted for anything. All of this sh*t is a just a media circus.

I guess that Congress has taken care of the really important issues in the country so they can now worry about baseball. No frackin' wonder this country is this shape.

JB, not just a media circus but a wasteful use of hard working American's tax dollars. Maybe we should investigate THAT!! Also, Texiban I ditto your sentiment! Doesn't congress have more pressing issues at hand like ah....lets see.... terrorism, immigration, a mounting deficit?? I know we could go on and on.

I guess that Congress has taken care of the really important issues in the country so they can now worry about baseball. No frackin' wonder this country is this shape. Actually the big problem in this country right now is immigration. The reason were having problems in this state is because our current governor Rick Perry does not have the gonads to enforce the laws against illegal immigrants that are already on the books. Perry needs to be run out of office and someone elected who will have the backbone and character to uphold the laws of this state and this country that he/she is sworn to uphold when elected. Our current governor Rick Perry was sworn in as governor to uphold our laws but he refuses to do so. The spineless a$$ needs to be impeached.

well you think its bad now wait until that c--t Billary wins... Nobody has forgotten the terror thing as GW throws it out there every so often just in case we did forget. That terror alert is BS. im not telling why i say that but it is....its smoke and mirrors and nothing more..every so often the Govt gives us the ol' elevated just in case something goes down and they can say' see'
immigration will never change..it didnt under Reagan, Bush, clinton or GW..It will not change, ever.
The economy sucks..While we are d*cking around, w/o a plan in Iraq, the economy is going down the sh*tter..This f**king idiot in office now is worthless and has zero idea on what to do about the economy.
Texas is miles behind many states ,in a lot of areas(sorry)but it is #1 in the idiots it puts in office...Why should Perry be any different?
They just dont make em like Mr Sam or Lloyd Bensten anymore and they certainly dont make Ronald Reagans..say what you want to about them but i defy anyone to say they didnt have honor /integrity...
on that note..theres one party in the US that actually has an approval rating lower than Bush/cheney.... That would be congress...also worthless

You know I hate to say this but my generation has really screwed up this country. We talk about immigration and say we should stop folks from coming but we tell our kids that they should learn to be in charge not do real work. So who does the work, who builds, who cleans, who takes care of the day to day activities of life. Who fights and stands guard, who patrols the streets and who puts out the fires.
Why by God that is beneath the dignity of most of the wasp members of our society. And that is where we as a generation has failed this country. 25% of the work force required to build a home comes from somewhere else and does so illegally. When you go out to eat as we all do at least twice a week, who cleans up after we leave, 67% of those folks are here illegally , when we go to the ball park and enjoy a game and then leave our mess to someone else to clean who in the hell do you think does that; it God damn is not your kid, you want him/her to be a lawyer or a doctor, not a janitor.
We should think twice about building a fence, think twice about ranting about illegals and think twice about talking out of both sides of our mouths. It is not very becoming.
As our final act as a generation we baby-boomers need to teach the young folks how to work. It will solve a lot of problems.

The other major problem I see with this generation of kids is that none of them can string together a sentence without saying "like", "you know' or "uhhh" several times. I blame this on the parents for not being more involved in their kids education and the "educrats" that continually dumb down testing so more kids can pass. These kids are supposed to be the leaders of tomorrow? May God help us all!

My generation spent more time worrying about what was best for "me" and not taking the time to realize that our actions would effect not only the quality of life of future generations but laid no groundwork for a generation of kids who had no solid moral direction or foundation to use as a moral frame of reference. They are basically winging it thanks to us.

Let me add something here, getting back on topic. I never thought McLane would ever allow a trade for Tejada. He simply was carrying too much baggage about his possible illegal trafficking in drugs.
Now the FBI is investigating Tejada. There is also the possiblity that if Tejada is exposed or even confesses, he could be deported.
Now, the reason why the FBI is investigating Tejada is not because Congress asked them to find something on him. They've already got the evidence. The FBI's job here is to simply build the case and tie up the loose ends before they charge Tejada with either perjury, trafficking in illegal drugs or both.
After Ed Wade made this trade, they let Adam Everett walk which was another decision that was extremely puzzling to me. Talk about painting yourself into a corner.
I have no idea anymore where McLane's mind is. He has either allowed himself to be overwhelmed with the idea of fielding a winning team next year at any cost or he is now so far outside the loop that Ed Wade was able to pull off this stupid trade for Tejada under McLane's nose with him actually not realizing all of the BS that Wade was on the verge of bringing on to this franchise. I bet Tal is really having a good time over on Crawford having to deal with what his new GM has brought to the table.

Why pay a backup SS with no bat at all over $3M a season? It's not like you would use him to pinch hit or play other positions.

Hembo, it's people like Lloyd Bentsen who helped create this immigration mess. Maybe you need to do a little research. Bentsen was just another liberal democrat along the lines of Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, the Clintons, and the rest of that trash.

f**k everett..you could bring someone up from rookie ball to fill in for his hitting ability I think it's a foregone conclusion that we all understand that Everett's value is with his glove. With the real possibility that the Astros aren't going to have a legitimate shortstop who can hit or field on opening day, is what concerned me and since I could certainly envision what was coming down, one would think that people who are paid to do the same like Tal, Wade etc. would have made some kind of effort to make sure they had somebody that they could equate as at least having major league calibre fielding skills as a back-up. Tejada may not even be allowed back in this country. If he is found to be guilty of the crimes he's being investigated for, many times the state will not bother with wasting tax payers money to continue investigating the guy. They'll simply have Immigration revoke his Green Card and not allow him back in the country as an undesirable.

I hate to rain on everyone's parade here but as a country a man is innocent until proven guilty. That means that someone -not a citizen- who is being investigated by the FBI or anyone else is not deemed guilty until proven so.
Putting this on a timeline that means that Tejada will not be brought up on charges until they can make a case, they will not be able to make a case that they can present until at least another month goes by. Then they bring the charges and he has a hearing set and they have a bail hearing, then everyone goes through discovery and determines when they are ready for trial. That is at least a 6 month period from the date that they bring charges, so at least 7 months from now.
So at the earliest we have Tejada until August. That is assuming that they can not get a continuance until October and that is highly likely. Worst case scenario in my mind is that he goes to trial in October and is convicted in November. No way it happens sooner.
As far as getting his work visa revoked, again innocent until proven guilty. He has it already and is not reapplying so no way they keep him out of the country. This is an 09 problem for us if at all, not an 08 issue
