I think he is going to be a great future star..Theres no question about it..I do, however, think its way too early to form an opinion. Both he and Pence are just arriving...People are throwing names around and i can tell you this..if i had a choice, right now, between tulo and someone like Tejada, well, i know which one i would take and it aint tulo...same goes for pence..I would trade him in a heartbeat for a proven star...we dont know where these guys will be in 3-4 yrs. Minor league stats dont count for sh*t...Theres a few guys with close to 20 hr's in AAA right now and batting close to .300..why do you suppose they arent in the big leagues?
If the astros are going to rebuild then it doesnt make sense to trade pence..

I'm actually on Vega's side here. Make no mistake, I like Pence, but I see a major regression in his future.
Let's compare the players a little bit beyond the OPS:
Pence:
BB/K: 0.21 LD%: 18.3% BAPIP: .393 GB/FB: 1.63 HR/FB: 14.3%
Tulowitzki:
BB/K: 0.41 LD%: 21.8% BAPIP: .337 GB/FB: 1.32 HR/FB: 11.0%
From what I see, Tulo has been going to the plate with a much betetr approach. Pence has struck out a lot considering his lack of discipline. Thios makes it likely that once his BAPIP luck runs out that he will have major dificulty getting on base. Tulo is currently better in this area.
With a more patience approach, Tulo has had a better ability to put the ball into the air. By waiting for his pitch and being more selective he can drive the ball a bit. Now, that dpesn't automatically result in more homers and extra base hits obviosuly since all flyballs are not equal, but IMO, the two players are similarly powerful, and right now, I think Tulo has a little better power.
I argue that Pence has been quite lucky because his BAPIP is currently an unsustainable .397. Right now, Tulo is hitting more line drives then Pence, and because they are both pretty equal in the power and speed department, that over the long run of this season, it's likely that Tulo can provide a higher BAPIP. Simply put, Pence has been running on a lot of luck lately.
In total, I could see that 200 point OPS gap in favour of Tulo very quickly. If not for the enormously small sample, one could even argue that at this stage, Tulo is the better hitter. Time will tell if this is indeed true. Alos, considering Tulo is a year younger than Pence, his current abilities are pretty interesting.
Again, I'm aware that this is a tought arguement when there is a 200 point OPS gap between the 2, but I think given time, Pence may dissapoint this season based on how astrobuddy has staunchly built him up. given time, you may see that the gap between the 2 hitetrs offensively is actually a pretty fair arguement, and considering that Tulo can play a skill position at a high level, I would probably take Tulo at this juncture. However, you can't really go wrong with Pence either. he's still learning and should continue improving with more plate appearances.

Pence... 3-4 with a double. Not bad for a 24 year old kid in his 1st year in the majors playing CF.

Yep, that means that he's a bad player. It has nothing to do with the choices of the organization or the depth chart.
Ryan Howard obviously shouldn't be considered that good because he didn't come up to the bigs to stay until he was 25.

Nooooooooooooooooooooo, i just SAID IS A PITY. Is a pity we can't enjoy rookies earlier instead of watching average old players for 6 years. Same happen with Phillies, difference was they had a good hitter in Thome at first, RIGHT? ??
