Pettitte has an option year. I imagine he will take it and be back next season.
This could be the end of an era for the Yankees. Who knows what they will look like. They are getting older and more expensive. With a new manager, who nows when they will make the playoffs again. This could start a run like the 70's - late 80's Yankees. They might win once in a while, but no dynasty.

Wow, end of an era, is that forum member an IDIOT or what. Thats why he is a joke on this forum, saying, Yankees SUCK, THEY WILL NOT MAKE IT TO THE PLAYOFFS, AGAIN HE WAS WRONG. Now he says the era for the yankees is over? ?/// Does this guy has any knowledge of baseball and the great minor league system they have? ??/// Lets TEACH THE DUDE. Next year they will have 3 very good young pitchers in the rotation: 1. Wang 2. Hughes (if you think Patton is good, this guy is MUCH BETTER) 3. Kennedy With Pettitte and Mussina or Clemens as number 5 next year, that is a very good rotation, especially with those 3 young guys. After Pettitte and Mussina they have guys like: Dellin Betances, Tyler Clippard, Humberto Sanchez (injured, but great prospect) and Angel Reyes. In the bullpen they have Chamberlain and Cox for the future. That with Mariano, Vizcaino and some FA, the bullpen can be very good. Positions in need in 2 or 3 years? ?// Catcher, well, they have Jesus Montero after Posada. Cano, young at 2nd. Jeter and Arod, still very productive. LF, no problem there with Matsui. cf, Melky, young. Rf, in need in 2 or 3 years, they have Jose Tabata, top 3 prospect behind Hughes from this system. And, last time i checked the Yankees will sign and trade for GOOD PLAYERS TRYING TO WIN GAMES, i think the forum member is CONFUSED with the astros. They will NOT have a player trying to get PERSONAL records taking victories from the team. They will not allow a bad pitcher to pitch if he sucks for the year, MUSSINA? ??// Us, Woody. I think the forum member is confusing Yankees with ASStros, one org tries to win no matter what, ASStros win despite of lackluster moves, and for the last 2 years there is no winning in ASStros.

Other names? /// A texan dude, Whelan, involved in the Sheffield trade, this guy can become a closer, but probably will be set up to Chamberlain in the future.

Uhhhh.... I do believe I said "COULD BE". If they lose Arod, which they probably will they will be in trouble. The Yankees were not good this year. They made it because other teams choked.
Vega... this is what you dont get. This isnt just about the Yankees? There are alot of better teams in the AL. The whole league is better.
Clemens? He is done.
Arod... GONE Steinbrenner... Losing it.
Once again... The Yankees dont have anything to do with the Astros. I would be pleasantly surprised if the Astros make the playoffs next year, but they have just as good a shot in the NLC as the Yankees have in the ALE.
If you want to be a Yankee fan then go talk your sh*t on a Yankee board. Because it is quite clear you arent an Astros fan. You actually love watching them fail and it is plainly obvious to anyone who reads your crap.

Arod, gone? ?// I bet you he signs with Yankees again. Would you like to bet on that? ? Again, if he signs with Yankees, you leave the forum, if he signs elsewhere, I go. Why will the Yankees resign Arod, because they don't have another player to sub him and they NEED HIM. And the Yankees, when they NEED A PLAYER THEY SIGN HIM. Again, I believe YOU ARE CONFUSING THE YANKEES WITH THE ASStros. Taht is your BIG mistake. Yankees are NOT the ASStros, they resign their players. Asstros? ??////No. Example: Beltran, Kent, Pettitte, Clemens, Springer. I KNOW you are USED to INCOMPETENCE, but Yankees will do whatever they need to do TO WIN.

Well think about this.....with Torre probably gone, Clemens will not come back and a few other issues with the Yankees, it is rumored that Pettite is considering retirement. Will this matter in the long run? Probably not. Steinbrenner has never shied away from spending money to attempt to make the Yankees better. The Yanks still have one of the better farm systems in place and a ot of young talent to spare. If they keep the core of this team together I think that they will get back to the playoffs next season.
As far as AROD going anywhere, unless some idiot ponies up about 30 mil per season, he ain't goin' anywhere. Hell, even if somone does consider it, they still have to put up with Boras' bullsh*t.

they didn't win with that core this year without ARod putting that team on his back in the early season to give time for the Giambi and company to start hitting and when they didn't really hit in the Playoffs they lost. Pettite pitch a great game in the second game as did the Cleavland Pitcher but the Yankee's bats were cold the whole series and the vaunted young pitching staff did not carry the Yankee's, already you can see some cracks in jabba

It would be stupid for anyone to leave the forum based on where ARod signs.

Yankees will do whatever they need to do TO WIN. Just like this year....wait they did not win this year. How can this be? Say it ain't so.. If I was Wade, I would tell Drayton how many tickets he would sell EVERY game with Arod playing every day as opposed to every 5th day with Clemens. Packed house every night...Hmmmm You know how Drayton loves a packed house. Bring in Arod and one front line pitcher and we are back baby!!!!

Arod, Pettitte and Clemens brings a WS title for the Yankees, but they will not do it. This would be the lineup: 1. Anderson cf 2. Burke 2b 3. Arod 3b 4. Lee lf 5. Berkman 1b 6. Pence rf 7. Wigginton 3b 8. Towles c 9. Pitcher Rotation: 1. Oswalt 2. Pettitte 3. Backe/Clemens 4. Patton 5. Woody Williams (Probably over Wandy because that would be 3 lefties) Relievers: 1. Lidge 2. Qualls 3. Sarfate 4. Nieve? ? 5. Albers 6. McLemore 7. Sampson/Mohler They should try and sign a guy like Romero. Will the ASStros go after Arod? ?// I don't think so. Now, they could trade Wandy and Everett for pitching help. Another option is Scott over Anderson, but i would prefer to have better defense with Everett gone.

No way you pay for Pettitte and Clemens if you already have Arod.
Arod and Pettitte alone are 43 mill by themselves.
No I can see bringing Arod in and spending another 20 on multiple players (starting pitcher , reliver, and/or position player)
Then the payroll would be near but under 100 mill. With the additional revenue of the increased ticket sales and merchandise, it would be a wash.
