Berkman has spent too much time running his mouth this season and not enough time concentrating on doing his job. He's been pouting ever since Burke was sent to Round Rock.
Until someone better comes along, give Scott the RF job and leave him alone. Get rid of Jason Lane........he's a damn joke as is Palmeiro.
Rick White makes Doug Henry and Jay Powell look like Mariano Rivera in his prime. In short, White sucks and needs to go. There is a reason why he was with 11 teams in 13 seasons.
Woody Williams might make a good minor league pitching coach but, right now, he's a waste and Purpura looks like a fool for giving him a two year deal.

I think what he meant is that he's still not having a Pujols type year, but IMO he will. (that's why I never dropped him or took him out of the starting lineup in my fantasy leagues).

Nahhhh, baseball nowdays expects offense from that position, from all positions. lets see: Arizona, Drew, he hits Atlanta, renteria, he hits baltimore, tejada, he hits red sox, lugo, he hits cubs, izturis, does not hit white sox, uribe, he can hit (power) cincy, gonzalez, he has power cleveland, peralta, hitter with pop colorado, tulowitski, he hits detroit, guillen, he hits florida, ramirez, he hits astros, everett, can't hit kc, pena, can't hit angels cabrera, he can hit dodgers, furcal, can hit brewers, hardy, he hits minn, barlett, hits, .over .300 last year mets, reyes, he hits yankees, jeter, he hits oakland, crosby, he hits phillies, rollins, he hits pirates, wilson, does not hit san diego, greene, he hits especially for power giants, vizquel, hits seattle, betancourt, hits cards, eckestein, he can hit tampa, harris, he hits (hun sent a good fielder to the minors to play a better hitter at ss) texas, young, hits toronto, clayton can't hit washington, guzman, can't hit So, out of 30 teams, ONLY 5 teams have very weak SS. And, coincidence that the 5 teams, Astros, KC, Nationals, Pirates and Toronto are one of worse teams in baseball?

Vega.. those numbers are way below Pujols career averages.
He isnt having a Pujols year so far. He was on fire the last 10 days and his numbers came up. Berkman could do the same thing the next 2 weeks and have his normal numbers. It can change that quick

1B- It's called degenerative arthritis. Who knows, maybe he hurt it again. SS - Wingnut may be doing his job. But the teams that are going to be in the post-season will have a SS who hits much better than Wingnut. I am greatly impressed with his defense. I was greatly impressed with Roger Metzger's defense. Neither one of them possess(ed) enough offensive skills that keeping them for their defense alone is/was worth it. The BoSox are doing just fine with Julio Lugo. Do you think they would trade Lugo straight up for Wingnut? 3B- I'll bet the Astros have gotten the least production out of 3B than any team in the league and I haven't checked the stats. They've got to be in the bottom 5. Mike Lamb has several good attributes as a ballplayer. But he is worthless in the field, always has been, always will be. LF -- like I said, you can get a Walt Bond for much less than $100million.

Nahhhh, he hit .344 on May, that is not 10 days.
He struggled AT THE BEGINNING but is hitting now for a long time.
Berkman will not be able to have a great year because he has struggle for a long time.
And, for the record, Berkman is NOT in the same league with Pujols, PERIOD.

It should be illegal for Mike Lamb to put a glove on his hand.

Plus, Berkman is 32 now and not in good shape, so, we can expect his numbers to start to fall.

Vega... Vizquel, whom you have listed as "hit" is hitting .233, with a .273 OBP and a .278 slg. He is hitting worse than Biggio.
How can you say he "hits".
His number are almost identical to Everetts.

Plus, Berkman is 32 now and not in good shape, so, we can expect his numbers to start to fall. Berkman is too lazy to get in shape. That's part of his problem.

Hmmm, lets see: .276 hitter with a .342 OBP. That is a good number 2 hitter especially with a guy with over 360 steals. He can hit, 400 doubles, 68 triples, he can hit. He is not a weak hitting SS like Everett. Everett is a career .249 hitter with .301 obp, can you see the DIFFERENCE?

Still, SS is a defensive position. You expect defense there. Everett hitting .200 is not the reason for this 9 game slide. Last time I checked, he was responsible for our run tonight. BTW, I doubt "Hun" sent that guy down. He's not the GM.

He isnt hitting .276 and doesnt have a .342 OBP. Career numbers maybe? Not 2007 numbers>? Here comes the spin.
Why dont we use Biggio's career numbers? See how that works?
Plus... Berkman just turned 31. He isnt 32.

"Plus, Berkman is 32 now and not in good shape, so, we can expect his numbers to start to fall".
The same could be said for Carlos Lee. Looking at Bill James' defensive spectrum, I would say that teams that concentrate their offensive punch at the far right side have very poor prospects for success. Just like you can only have so many defensive-only studs (primarily @ C, SS, CF) you can only have so many fat-assed offensive-only studs (primarily @ LF, 1B and 3B) The Astros situation at SS, C, 1B and LF is deadly - for us, not the opponent.
