Dont you think that has been the idea all along? Trade Burke and Scott for pitching?

Burke has got to be pissed long about now. Failing to trade him at this point will be problematic for the team. I hate to lose Scott but if a package of Burke, Scott, and Einerston gets us a proven starter/closer then drive on.

Bourn, in part time play had a better OBP than what Taveras ever gave us as an Astro.
I think the Lineup will be:
1. Bourn CF 2. Matsui 2b 3. Berkman 1b 4. Lee lf 5. Pence rf 6. Wigginton 3b 7. Towels C 8. Everett SS 9. Pitcher
This team needs a left handed reliever (Affeldt) a closer (Gagne) and another pitcher (Jennings).
Rotation:
Oswalt Jennings Backe Wandy Woody
Awful rotation, lets hope Patton and Albers are ready.
Bullpen looking good:
Gagne Qualls Brocail Villareal Affeldt Geary Sarfate
This team would compete if:
Jennings pitches good baseball. Woody makes a comeback. Backe can pitch as a number 3 pitcher. Patton is ready to take over Wandy if he struggles.
Sorry guys, but thats too many ifs.

We DO NOT need Jason Jennings. Let this bum go!! Also, Eric Gagne is no longer closer material.

The Astros are in no worse shape than the other teams in the NLC.
Not a great team, but not a horrible team either.

The season doesnt start tomorrow. Wade isnt done. The Astros will have a closer and they will have a better rotation that they do right now.
NO, they are not horrible.

Dude, we are JUDGING THE TEAM RIGHT NOW.
Right now this team is horrilble, don't be a blind FAN.
Right now we have only ONE good starter and no closer.

Matsui is a solid pick up.

I agree with you, Ken. Matsui is a solid pickup and an obvious upgrade from Burke.
We are not done yet and I am sure we will be using amny young pitchers in spring training and giving them their chance as well.
Its true our starting rotation is bleak but with the younger guys stepping up, Backe returning from injury to be solid, and some possible vet help like Wolf or Lieber (at least they are not as old as woody). The outlook gets even better.
We have strengthened our D up the middle , which will help make what we have even better and now are looking to find better pitchers.
I say we are most definitively heading in the right direction.
Vega, I would not say we are horrible, but we most assuredly need more help in the ares you mentioned.
