I would take A-rod anyday of the week and twice on Sunday.
This insane comparison between A-rod and Lance Berkman is ridiculous.
They are both great players...period

There is a DIFFERENCE, aROD is a Hall of Fame player, Berkman is a great player. Career averages, so far... Berkman: .301 BA, .972 OPS A-Rod: .306 BA, .966 OPS Pretty damn close. Goku

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, lets continue with that.
Arod, SS, Berkman, OF. Second, ARod, a golve glove SS, Berkman, average AT BEST. Arod, 241 steals, Berkman, 47. Arod has over half the homers berkman has and almost over half the hits berkman has, and BOTH HAVE THE SAME AGE. Actually, Berkman is 5 month older.
Sorry, good try but one is a HALL OF FAMER the other one IS NOT.

Arod, SS, Berkman, OF. Second, ARod, a golve glove SS, Berkman, average AT BEST. How does where they play make any difference? A-Rod is playing 3rd now so you can't compare the 2 defensively. Berkman has been playing out of position almost his entire career. I don't think that would have anything to do with his overall defensive numbers. Isn't that one of your arguments about Burke not being a good player? Playing out of position. Arod, 241 steals, Berkman, 47. Arod has over half the homers berkman has and almost over half the hits berkman has, and BOTH HAVE THE SAME AGE. Actually, Berkman is 5 month older. Good try with this one. A-Rod has been playing for 13 seasons to Berkman's 9. That might have something to do with the difference between the numbers. I guess you did not know that or maybe you ignored it since it would have made your numbers off a bit. I will give you that A-rod is a better stealer than Berkman but there is a slight difference in their speed so I can live with that Sorry, good try but one is a HALL OF FAMER the other one IS NOT. What makes you think Berkman won't be considered for the Hall by the time he ends his career. If he played 20 seasons and took into account his averages and added them to his current total, they would look like the following( all number give or take 10% due to age slowing the player down): BA 300 Hits 3136 HRs 633 With those type of numbers, he would not be denied the Hall. Now A-Rod's numbers would be greater but that does not take away from Berkman's numbers. They are BOTH great players and if they keep up their current pace, BOTH are worthy of the Hall of Fame

vega why would you even bother getting into that one..I think he was baiting you...Nobody anywhere is going to be able to sell berkman as an equal to arod...try it somewhere and see what happens....This kind of thing is even below me... Arod is the best player in our lifetimes..end of story

I always laugh when I see someone try that comparison. Arod youngest to reach 300 HR Arod youngest to reach 400 HR Arod youngest to reach 500 HR and when it all said and done he should and will have the HR total from Baroid. How many times has Berkman been the MVP of the League. this year AROD will win another or its a joke. He has 10 HR in the Ninth to win a game for the Yankees plus all the other HR he hit to put them up. He has litterly carried that team this year. This will be his third MVP in 5 years with the Yankees.
Now I admit I have thought that Berkman was kinda slacking this year but he will end up with 30+ HR and 100 RBI. Which happens to be above average numbers but Those numbers are small when looking at AROD who will have 50+ plus will have close to 150+RBI and over 130 Runs scored this year
Granted the Astros having been putting a lot of men on base but I bet if look at how many times Berkman left men on when they could have won you would not be happy with those numbers yet he is in the top 1/3 of players with those numbers. Arod numbers are staggering when you look at that.

let me be clear here...I never once said Berkman was equal to or better than A-Rod.
I was merely saying that A-Rod AND Berkman are great players.
Of course A-Rod is better but to down play Berkman because of A-Rod or imply that Berkman is NOT a Hall Of Fame caliber is wrong.
If , and thats a big if, Berkman keeps up the numbers he has, he will be in the HOF. Does mean he is as good as A-Rod certainly not.

Players in another league over Berkman:
1. Pujols 2. Arod 3. Bonds 4. V;ad Guerrero
Please, and i will say it again, PLEASE, no more Berkman in the SAME sentence when talking about those other 4 guys, PLEASE.

I am glad you mentioned Vlad since he has been in the league 4 more additional years than Berkman. Add in Berkman's 162 game average for homers (34, which is strangly close to Vlad's 37), Hits, and RBIs multiplied by four years and you get the following totals of each player with 13 years in the league(including this year through 135 games for Vlad and 133 games for Berkman): Vlad: hits - 1954 HRs - 360 RBI's - 1162 Berkman: Hits - 1939 HR's - 389 RBI's - 1298 Seems quite comparable...Vlad has the edge on hits but Berkman has more HRs and RBI's In addition Vlad has a career Fielding % of 963. Berkman's is 988 With a difference in fielding as big as that, maybe Vlad should not be considered in Berkman's league. Of course that would be silly since BOTH are great players.
