It's pretty obvious from all the coach hires that the Astros are looking at a rebuilding situation even if McLane won't admit it. I think Torre's good at handling egos, but not sure if he's ready to build a winner out of kids.

I wonder how good torre would be with a team that didnt have a 250 mil payroll? Im not knocking the guy because the decisions he makes really can have an effect on a team..im just wondering to what extent? what was hickey going to really tell clemens, oswlat and pettite? or what was mazzone going to tell maddux, glavine, smolts? come on.....
Im wonderign how joe would do on a team with a 80 mil payroll?
I still think he is as good as they come but having a team that usually fields 4 all star starters every year(or close)it helps having those guys..
